All my DC’s school did during Thanksgiving was talk about how horrible and mean the pilgrims were and how they stole land from the native americans and how horrible that was. Well, that’s our horrible culture, that’s all we got. We’re awful awful humans.

The facts speak for themselves , don't they ?

No, the facts don’t actually. All the immigrants coming here came from places of peace? They are all peaceful, inclusive, loving people? Why are schools not addressing that? They only discuss how the pilgrims were basically savages and stole all the native’s land. Well, I guess we’re all living on stolen land then. We’re all guilty. If you descended from pilgrims, you should be ashamed of yourself is what kids are being taught.

Well yeah we all are living on stolen land. I mean do you think the Natives all went to those reservations peacefully, that the trail of tears didn't happen? Just because some people who came here came from bad places doesn't change history. I descended from pilgrims and I'm not ashamed, but the facts do indeed speak for themselves.

We glorify other cultures, everyone is so proud to be Greek, or Italian, or Chinese, or Polish, or whatever. Never proud to just be American. Always American something else. How about if your ancestors have been here since the 1600s? You hear crickets if you mention that. Not surprising someone who descended from pilgrims might embellish their true history.

Um I have heard countless people brag about ancestors coming over on the mayflower. WTF are you talking about. Are you starting a WASP Lives Matter movement?

Do you guys think this is an intentional PR strategy to milk this issue for everything it's worth? That would explain the daily release of new fuel to the fire.

"I found a forum called DC Urban Moms, and they’ve been talking about it for well over a year...."

As opposed to the paid off NY Times article, I love this one.

Chefs kiss to you New York Magazine!

What she calls her kids.

I know. But is there a Spanish significance? Does it mean something?

No. No PR would suggest this. It's an attempt to regain control of the grift

The ending -ito/a is added to Spanish words to mean little or as a term of affection. I think my dogs (Spanish word for dogs is perros) are adorable so I refer to them as my perritos. My sons little toy car is a carrito. So Balwinitos means little Baldwins

I agree what she did was sketchy/shady/wrong and she knew exactly what she was doing and is taking no ownership... blaming media, but never having tried to correct this mis information... but she must be having such extreme anxiety with all of this unraveling. So much embarrassment, anxiety over how her husband is reacting to her lies, her brand being upended, and is also taking care of five kids(granted with 5 nannies but still that’s a lot).

“there is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft. When you kill a man, you steal a life... you steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a ather. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness... there is no act more wretched than stealing.”

Ito is just a diminutive. So, gato is cat and gatito kitty.

Hilaria has lost all credibiity at this point. Between her past lies and her continuing blame-shifting, nothing she says can be taken at face value.

This times a million.

yep, the gravy train has ended and there's desperation.

Ok, I haven’t experienced people bragging about being a pilgrim descendant like one brags and harps on being another nationality. And if they did, they would be crucified.

No, I think they're just in panic mode. No publicist would advise any of the recent moves they've made.

Remember a couple of years ago when Jennifer Lawerance was everywhere, people were getting sick of her, and she was in that horrible Darren Aronofsky movie? She quietly went away. Jlaw doing anything quietly is quite an achievement in itself, but that was definitely a PR move to keep the public from turning on her. I would advice Hilary and Alec to do the same.

When you add “ito” or “ita” to a name, it means little.

Juanita is “Little Juana” or Pepito is Little Pepe.

Actually no. She's likely not affected about it at all. If she were, she'd not be blaming everyone and continuing to defend her authenticity.

Do you not imagine people suffer terribly psychologically and emotionally from the nastiness of these witch hunts / cancel culture mobs? I’m not condoning HB’s lies, but her “crime” was very limited compared to the damage she’ll sustain. I hope she survives.

Oh god do you hear yourself???? If this is your idea of not surviving, then you need some actual real problems.

Hilaria has brought ALL OF THIS on herself. She is a privileged person who lies constantly.

Yes. This is a lesson that, if you make $ from your image, you are held accountable to some basic integrity, honesty and transparency related to the way you make your money. If I make money from pretending to be vegan, people have the right to roast me for eating steak.
