What exactly are the benefits to tablets in the classrooms? I know the schools can save money on books..but what else? How are they used?

Personally I think they just make learning more entertaining. There will always be newer gadgets coming along, and then we MUST have those in the classroom, all the while the substance remains the same. They're just a distraction from the substance of the matter -- the subject being taught and the quality of the teacher. My two cents.

We are putting wifi and ipads in every school in the US. not sure there is a school without it at this point.

The fertility literature is inconclusive, but increasingly points towards significant time- and dose-dependent deleterious effects from cellphone exposure on sperm. Genotoxic effects have been demonstrated from "non-thermal? exposures, but not consistently. There is sufficient evidence and expert opinion to warrant an enforced school policy removing cellphones from students during the day.

I'm having a hard time believing that Europe is actually pulling out wifi. I would say that many, many more European children have tablets and smartphones than I usually see here in the US.
