Elementary School-Aged Kids

So... I have a three, almost four-year old and a twelve, almost thirteen-year old.
And I'm looking for things for them to do. My oldest daughter is very unhappy right now. She really wants to get out of her current school, but it's because of friend troubles. I'm making her wait it out another year (because we just moved here). In the mean time, I want her to find some activities to do around DC so she can make new friends. So she enjoys soccer, figure skating, and music. Of course, since the move, she hasn't been on the ice... but she'd like to get back to it. And soccer at school is now over... She's an excellent piano player as well as a pretty good clarinet player. So any suggestions on activities for her... would be nice. And my other one will be 4 in a few weeks... I was going to try to get her into piano, dance, gymnastics, or figure-skating like her sister. Really, I don't know what all is available, but I want her to have lots of options so she can commit to something later on. So suggestions for her too please? |
| take her skating. Kettler is on the metro, and has classes. |
| For a music program for your four year old, try http://centerformusic.org/. We've been going since kids were infants, now 10 and 8. Great program. |
| bach to rock also has a great music program. They have classes for little ones as young as 18 months and for older kids. Most students join bands and perform at concerts like their semi-annual battle of the bands. go to b2rmusic.com and check it out |

Where are you located?
Lots of ice-skating activities at Cabin John ice rink in MoCo. Stoddert Soccer League in NWDC will have spring soccer teams. Then there is the Levine school of music which has campuses in various places around DC. |
