I hate using the oven in the summer because it makes our entire home hot, but it seems like every few days we end up using the oven to roast or bake something. After I turn it off, the oven stays hot or very warm for about 2-3 hours. In the winter, we deal with this wasted heat by changing the thermostat. Today, I baked French Toast for breakfast around 8 and when I entered the kitchen to start lunch, the oven was still warm. It occurred to me that I probably could have cooked something in the cooling oven, thereby not wasting the heat.
Can you suggest some things that could be cooked in declining heat, sort of the way that after a big campfire, you might pop potatoes in the ashes to bake?
TIA
