It’s hurt Target. They fired the CEO. WaPo lost several hundred thousand subscribers. You don’t think that hurts?

Just because you don’t want to join a protest or boycott doesn’t mean they’re not effective.

Just googled fif my edification….

The Washington Post Is Running Out Of Readers Willing To Pay.
“I could hardly believe it when I saw The Washington Post’s new average daily paid circulation figure that made the rounds in recent days — a number so low that I first thought it must surely be missing a digit.

97,000.

That figure comes via the Alliance for Audited Media, and it reveals that The Washington Post’s average paid daily circulation has dropped below 100,000 for the first time in 55 years. To put that in perspective: 97,000 is the sort of figure you’d expect to see from a mid-size regional paper like The Minnesota Star Tribune or The Seattle Times. Not from a globally recognized newsroom with multiple Pulitzers to its name.”

Keep up the great work protestors! 👏👏👏

Killing the WaPo will make things worse, not better. People who canceled are being very foolish.

I’m not paying money for Bezos to feed me crap. This is free market. If he wants to run the paper into the ground, other outlets will step up. I’m already getting more of my info from the Guardian.

I also read the Guardian, but let’s not pretend that it covers US government issues or US domestic politics with any depth whatsoever.

You’re helping to kill the single best mass media source of information for information on what’s happening with the US government.

How could that possibly backfire?

Truly shortsighted and foolish.

I am too. I encourage you to donate/subscribe to The Guardian- even the $1 level helps conveys much needed appreciation.

He is a comic. He should not have been canceled. We all know how divisive and ridiculous this administration is. End of story.

The DIS cancellation site was crashing last night because too many people were trying to cancel at the same time.

You sound dumb, so I’ll throw you a bone. This is a case of the president of the United hurt feelings pressuring his appointee at the FTC to pressure the network to remove someone because he disagrees with the messaging. This is government censorship.

Thank you for your attention in this matter!

Now that humor is policed maybe we all will get really very well versed in irony and layered, subtle references. You know the stuff that is really funny instead of brush and crude stuff most people find funny. One has had to have lived in an authoritarian country to understand how powerful subtle humor can be.

Not tired of winning hahaha

You are defining winning as upsetting liberals rather than achieving any of the goals that are the fundamentals of conservatism. Reagan, Bush, and all of my strong Republican ancestors are spinning in their graves.

What truly free press can we switch our payments? Democracy doesn't win if no media is left standing to shine a light on reality. Where is the good, ethical journalism these days?

DP: When the government compels a private actor to do something, the government is acting. It's a legal doctrine.

Sure it is. I have a challenge: go check out the headlines on the homepage right now and honestly assess whether (a) the coverage is valuable, and (b) whether you’d likely have seen that news in the Guardian.

Notable items:

-breakdown of the CDC testimony
-proposal to change vax schedule
-free day care initiative in NM
-organ donation system whistleblower
-Dem funding proposal re govt shutdown
-Education Dept partnering with conservative groups for civics education

And on and on. This is stuff that we need desperately to have an informed citizenry.

You’re cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Disagree 100%. They are as biased as the NYT. Follow Apple News (which has a ton of newspapers/media) or independent media. Sign up for 1440 19th Street news. So many independent journalists are on IG for free and have paid Substacks.

I don't need billionaires to think for me.
