| I bought a bunch of stuff from Boden 3 years ago and wound up returning it all as it was too boxy on me. I'm 6', 185 lbs, size 14. Big belly. But I love their stuff! Has it changed in recent years in terms of sizing by any chance? |
| Only just got into Boden this year but I've found their dresses and skirts fit me well (I'm very petite). I think it depends on what you order though - had to return some blazers that were too boxy. |

I find a lot of Boden's stuff boxy, and I think it's just cut that way. The large, blocky prints don't make things any better.
I've wondered for a while why they don't invest in better tailoring. I keep going back to J Crew because, while they're overpriced for the quality, the cut is usually very flattering. I remember a few years ago Boden had a blazer with a write-up that said something along the lines of, "we've adjusted the cut to make it more flattering than previous versions," but I didn't try it. |
| Their dresses and coats tend to fit me well; skirts and pants are so-so. I'm 5'10", 145 lbs, and a bit pear-shaped. |
|
It just depends which pieces you buy. I avoid the ones I can tell will look boxy on me.
5'9" and 135lbs, here. |
|
They do have some boxy items. I am a big fan of boden, but avoid all boxy cuts. I am 5'4" hourglass and boxy makes me look matronly.
They have tall sizing for selected items now. That may be a change. I have liked the casual jersey dress, casual weekend dress, wrap dresses, wrap tops, some of the ponte dresses. Lots of things, really. |

Love their pieces but I don't buy them anymore. Was filling my closet with a mom wardrobe and looked very frumpy.
Now mini boden - adorable and fits great! |
I am 5'3", 120 lbs. Used to love Boden but none of their stuff fits anymore, as far as I can tell. There is no consistency: different colors of the same item can fit very differently. After returning every single item in an order 2 or 3 times, I gave up. Their shipping costs are not inexpensive and it's a huge headache. Can you tell I am disappointed in them these days?
|
| Why on earth are you ever paying shipping from boden? there's ALWAYS a free ship and free returns discount code unless its end of season clearance. |
I am not too far off from your size and really like their dresses - but only the ones that are jersey or some other drapey fabric. Anything with more structure is too boxy / not flattering. But the ones I have, I love. |
Maybe the problem is that you aren't really a 14? I am 5'10, 165, and a size 8. I can't imagine you are three sizes larger! |

My take (FWIW I am 5'4" and about 105 pounds): mainly you need to have a nice chest and broad shoulders. I don't, and everything is too low cut for me. I don't want to have to wear a camisole under every dress and shirt!
I'm a little too tall for their petite dresses/skirts, but too short for the regular ones, which make me look like I'm wearing dressup clothes. Too bad, because although you have to buy carefully, they have a few items every season that are really nice. |
| I'm 5'3" 125 but thin/muscular. I love their clothes. I am a 4 in dresses but a 6 in skirts. I only have one dress I wish I had returned. I got it when I was pregnant and didn't get to try it on until this spring. I wore it and then saw a picture of me and ick. I am sure I can return it. I have 10-15 pieces and this was the only miss. |
| My D boobs don't look good in their dresses. |
| I find that their stuff tends to be a little high-waisted, so some stuff looks wrong just because the waist doesn't hit at the right place. The new tall sizes are better. I find their shirts tend to be a bit boxy. |
