Like spring mix with oil and vinegar? |
Um. Why would your baby want to eat lettuce/salad?
We did BLW on the food front, but were formula feeders from the beginning. With our daughter, who rejected all purees, we just started cutting our dinners in small pieces and she'd take them. She will now eat whatever we eat at 19 months? But know it doesn't always work, we did the same thing for our 4 year old and he is a classic picky eater. His veggies are tomatoes, guacamole and raw carrots (and pouches) |
No. We did baby led weaning, so he ate whatever we did (hope I'm not being "obnoxious" by mentioning that), but you need molars to chomp down on lettuce. Otherwise it just sits in their mouths until they spit it out or gag on it (BTDT).
If you're doing BLW and want to be obnoxious, I think finely chopped cooked greens are easier for baby. You can put it on toast or mix it into other foods like pasta sauce or scrambled eggs or frittatas/omelets. We tried just sauteed or braised greens with the same results as above. |
They need molars first. |
We did mixed salad greens w/o dressing as DD's second food. |
Our daughter started trying salad around 15 months. Now at 23 months she loves salad and often asks for more lettuce. She definitely did not have molars when she started trying it. |
This was what I was hoping to hear. Did she gag on it a lot? |
We definitely wanted DD to get used to eating dark, leafy greens from a young age, but we started with sauteed spinach or sauteed chard sometime around 18 months and she loved it. Still does. She also tried my salad several times around that age, but she didn't start asking for her own until around 3yo. |
We just put our salad in the blender so it was finely chopped. My 10 month old was able to enjoy it. |
Lettuce is a choking hazard because it can form a film over the windpipe when it gets wet. |
Cut it up really fine because they will gag/choke on it. |
Terrible idea. It’s a choking hazard. Just wait on the salad! |
You need to know your own child. What makes you think your baby is ready for a salad, OP? |
Love how OP ignored all the other posts about how it is a choking hazard and focused on this one. Good luck I guess OP! |
I just gave shredded lettuce to my 6 month old to see. She picked it up and tossed it to the dog. She’s back to her mango pit! |
