Smoke coming out of the drain when I use the garabge disposal

Help? This just started and freaked me out. Is this something I can fix? Does anyone know what it means that it just starts smoking?

OP here. Can I still use the sink and just not run the garbage disposal? And should I call a handyman, plumber, or electrician. Thanks for your help.

Whatever you do...do NOT go out of the house immediately after taking a shower.

Probably the problem is within the pipes, where potentially toxic materials react with what you gulp down the disposal. You should have them checked, in the entire house. Until then I would not have anything run through them.
