Quest for 300.

Christian Pulisic won’t be happy. He got lucky he went to Germany to develop. Otherwise he wouldn’t have Made it here. When this physicality idea changes in the US, the USMNT will win a World Cup.

And he had parents that knew the system and a dad with connections so that he didn't get politicked out and buried under the BS most soccer players in the US without that support have to go through.

Even with his unbelievable talent--I definitely think he probably wouldn't have made a top team with some of the horsesh*t I've seen in this area. Size at 14-15 would have been his biggest obstacle in the DMV.

Disagree. His skills and pace would have found him a spot on almost every team and it would have been an easy call.

Nope. He went to the academies and they all declined. That's why he ended up in Europe.

Yep! They didn’t want him at the American academies.

Hugo Pérez says MLS clubs overlooked Christian Pulisic. Hugo Perez, the manager of the El Salvador national team and former USMNT player, discovered Christian Pulisic’s talent at an early age.

He definitely had people help him get to the places to have eyes on him. If his dad wasn’t a longtime professional player and friends with Lilley and others in the right places to help—he could have just floundered in our system.

Research isn't hard. Here's his wiki page and sentences from a couple supporting articles. Click through the reference articles if you're really interested in learning his story. Here's your tl;dr. He wasn't overlooked because he was small, he was small because he was playing up two years in the DA program that housed the MLS academies, he was already known by US soccer, and he was already planning to head overseas because you don't get a European passport at 15 unless you applied much earlier.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Pulisic

After the family returned to the Hershey area, Pulisic grew up playing for local U.S. Soccer Development Academy club PA Classics and occasionally training with local professional club Harrisburg City Islanders, now known as Penn FC, during his teen years. In the summer of 2010, he went on a five-day trial at Chelsea's Cobham base.[29]
___
Mark Pulisic would take Christian to visit European clubs during the summers; he visited at least one of Spain’s giants and spent time with a leading Premier League club’s academy, too. This was more to gain a taste of the environment than to send him overseas too young; his progress had already turned enough heads domestically, and he was appearing for national youth teams by the age of 13, going on to shine in the Residency Programme and playing in competitions such as the one that, eventually, turned Dortmund’s head.

Or womens national team playing U15s…

Skill wins in soccer, we're just jaded here with this thinking because everybody associates quality soccer with big, fast, and strong players. Players can't outrun quality passes, and a game of time and space isn't always won by fast and strong players.

skill combined with size and speed wins.. messis are rare…. Get over it… tell me you are a parent of an small kid without telling you are a parent of a small kid. Look at the top 20 players in the world.. the average height is around 6 ft..

Tell me you are one of those tell me you are something without telling me people, which tells me you're stupd and annoying AF without telling me.

Nah dog truth hurts.. im sorry your kid is not athletic. And think there techincal is going to overcome it in youth sports.. then try to use Messi as an example.. dilutional much?

size determines athleticism?
size and speed.. not how they are always mentioned together…. Again thanks for letting us know you are offended that your kid cant keep up.. but im sure juggles the ball 1000x…

Pretty sure Pulisic spent 100x hours juggling and playing wall ball, which is why he is the player he is. The connections, nuturing and opportunities that his famly pounced on him is why he made it.

Why did his family "pounce" on him? Were they jumping him into a gang? Did they like doing a pig pile game at their house, maybe?

Dude. His family didn't pounce on him to teach him or instill anything in him. Then again, maybe they use the old best it into him system.

To get back on topic.

All this discussion of which team is best on the girls side is a luxury. The boys parents have been relatively quiet but it’s been the worst experience we have had coming from the McLean side. Our coaches left mid season as everyone knows. FVU tryouts were disorganized to say the least. And for those kids who didn’t make FVU the RL coaches are still unknown. I know how competitive sports goes but this PROCESS has been the pits. Really unhappy with MYS.

Wondering is VYS any better? At this point I’d gladly drive over.

They just announced a new Boys Director. He sure has a lot of work, most if not all ECNL-RL Boy teams are in last place.

Just saw that. Seems to have experience although who really knows.
