I'm taking my 10 month old to South Beach for a little family. girls vacation with my mom and sisters, and am looking for a good place to stay. I love the boutique hotels, but have no idea whether they have cribs or what (the crib would be nice, but isn't absolutely essential-i only use it for naps at home). We basically need a nice pool (we'll be there more than the beach) and walkability to shopping. Any recommendations (boutiquey or not is cool)? After a quick look I think I will have to spend around $300 a night- I'm looking for something nice, but not necessarily luxury.
Oops-this is OP-despite mostly hanging at the pool, we'd like to be able to walk to the beach, too.
The Ritz Carlton is on the beach and walking distance to Lincoln Road, etc. You might be able to get something for a little more than 300. We stayed at Delano once with kid - rooms are small and not child-friendly, at least our room.

The boutique hotels have very small rooms and most have thing walls. You will find that most ALL hotels in South Beach are in walking distance to the beach.
Look at the Palms Hotel. thepalmshotel.com The Ritz has a kids program. I doubt you can get the Delano for under $500/night. |
We loved the Ritz Carlton; stayed there when our first was a little over 1 1/2. Very nice pool, right on the beach, friendly staff, quick walk to Lincoln Rd.
Thanks from the OP. The Ritz looks like $500/night, so getting two rooms might blow the budget. Has anyone stayed at the Loews there?
I stayed at the Marriot last year. It was nice, maybe a little far from the action. I didn't take the kids but noticed that it is right next to a playground so you may want to take that into consideration.
I'd recommend the Loews. Stayed there over a holiday weekend and it is nice. It does tend to attract a younger, potentially more raucous crowd than the Ritz though - when I was there (again, over a holiday weekend) there was quite the scene at the pool area.
