| Would love to hear opinions on which of the top schools (national universities and small, liberal arts colleges as defined by US News) is most friendly to conservartive thought in general, and supportive of students who are regular attendees of the traditional religious denominations. Who has a chapel on campus and has scheduled services for Protestants, Catholics, and Jews to practice thier faith? |
| BYU |
| Stanford is fairly conservative for a California school. |
| Bob Jones University |
| A liberal arts school, but there you will be exposed to non conservative ideas and conservative ideas you may disagree with. it sounds more like you want a school that indoctrinates students. |
| They all have chapels with close-knit groups of student worshipers. But, many of these are going to be the liberal versions of their faiths. Sounds like you want Liberty University. |
| Chicago |
| There's a recent thread on this very subject. Some of the colleges/universities mentioned (of the top of my head) were: Hillsdale, Harvey-Mudd, Claremont, Pepperdine, Baylor Univ., George Mason Univ., VMI, Washington & Lee, some southern colleges, UVA, VT. |
| Claremont McKenna |

From the Fiske Guide to Choosing the Right College:
Many families may be seeking one or more of the following: --a place that emphasizes the Western tradition rather than multiculturalism --a place where conservative opinions can be openly expressed without being branded as racist or sexist --a place where moral and/or Christian values set the tenor of campus life. And offers a list of what they consider the best and most interesting schools that tend toward a "conservative perspective:" Babson Baylor Birmingham-Southern BYU Calvin Dartmouth DePauw Furman George Mason Grove City Hampden-Sydney Hope Houghton Pepperdine St. Olaf Sewanee Trinity U University of Southern California Vanderbilt Wabash Washington and Lee Wheaton (IL) and also Catholic schools including: BC U of Dallas Dayton DePaul Fairfield Fordham Holy Cross John Carroll Loyola New Orleans Marquette Notre Dame Saint Louis U U San Diego U San Francisco Santa Clara Villanova |
Is this a joke? |

Stanford
USC Dartmouth Vanderbilt UVA Wake Forrest Are the "least liberal" of the Top 25 Schools. They aren't exactly conservative, but you might be able to express a conservative view without being shot down. This is a good guide to schools that still offer an open academic environment: http://www.amazon.com/Choosing-Right-College-2012-13-Americas/dp/1610170059 There are some surprises, for example, Reed generally regarded as very liberal still allows academic freedom. |
OP said "top school" not "fringe" |
They all allow academic freedom. If you come from the perspective of "what schools will tolerate my intolerance" you won't get very far, but to suggest conservative thought is persecuted on campus is ridiculous. |
