Kid #2 was constructed on a diet of no food for first trimester and then 6 months of bacon and milk.

Yes. Are you concerned about nitrates or are you worried about listseria? No listeria issue with bacon, but nitrates - sure, you can get them nitrate free at Trader Joe's if that's a concern for you.

Is there anything cooked you can't eat while pregnant? You only eat bacon cooked so why wouldn't it be ok? Just trying to follow the logic here.

Why are nitrates so bad? I have cooked deli meat everyday and doctor said it's no problem.

I know prosciutto etc is banned when pregnant so what's why I asked

I hope... cause I've been eating it like crazy! YUM!

We have been getting the kind from whole foods though since I got pregnant, because it doesn't have nitrites. But I also will occassionally get some at a restaurant, because it is yummy.
