Because to a certain brand of (usually right wing) Christian, any reference to God that doesn't fit their parameters is by definition Heresy/Sacrilege/Blasphemy/etc. |
Maybe people were offended that she was saying God was ordinary? I don't know, but coincidentally just heard it this morning on Sirius after not having heard it for a long time. |
Because it refers to God as "a poor slob on the bus" like "one of us." (I have no problem with that. I think we should look at others that way.) |
OP here, I thought it was great because it encourages compassion for others-i.e. treat the stranger on the bus as nicely as you would treat God. |
