Wonder if the pp feels the same way about Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, David and Victoria Beckham, or Oprah and Stedman. These couples are worth more than Jay and Bey. |

Mm And? Doesn’t change the lyrics..... |
I like her female empowerment messages. With the way black women are disrespected in society, I understand why the lyrics are the way they are. She's taking ownership of her body, her sexuality, her image. For me the issue is that there aren't enough strong black female role models. Beyonce fills one role, but she can't fill all of them on her own. Girls need to see her, but also other representatives of strong black women -- in academia, in sports, in art, dance, etc. |
Do you think using the N word is feminist or empowering? Just wondering. |
I'm just reading some of her lyrics here - https://www.fuse.tv/2013/12/beyonce-new-album-raunchy-sexy-lyrics She's disgusting. This isn't female empowerment. It's "look at me! I too dumb to write intelligent lyrics. So I'll use sex instead." |
Get a life! You listen to City Girls, but Beyonce is disgusting. You sound like a lying hater. Your life must be miserable and bland as hell. |
Crudeness does not equal empowerment or excitement, regardless of who's using crude language. It reflects a limited vocabulary and a quick way to make $$$. |
You are a racist. |
I agree. Many female celebrities understand that to get noticed they need to satisfy the male gaze: it leads to Kardashian dressing, Beyonce gyrations, etc. We are still in an entirely patriarchal culture, disguised as female empowerment, which is anything but. What do they get out of it? Money. They, as individuals, are laughing all the way to the bank, but at what cost to society if they exploit the prevailing misogynist values to enrich themselves but not others? Essentially, when you're rich and influential, what duty do you have to the public? And before you're rich and influential, is it "by all means necessary" to get there, and to hell with the consequences? |
Predictable, and entirely untrue, response. Play the racism card often enough, and you'll be ignored. |
It is a shame.
And they have kids. Good chance they do not know any better. And the industry execs certainly don’t care about the impact on young people. |
