Absolutely nobody posts to dcum expecting to be told they're great, what are you smoking? It's well known that all OPs immediately become garbage people upon posting their complaint or query. This place is Shroedinger's message board. Until you post it you're just a common person with a common problem but as soon as you post it for response you're a monster.

I'm pretty sure OP thought she was going to get sympathy. Unfortunately for her, she underestimated the backlash she would get for calling her 19 year old invited guest a disgusting glutton. She also underestimated how cheap she would come across complaining about the guest finishing a partiality used container of sunscreen.

Would you like me to put you in touch with my guest? You can call and offer him some comfort if this is still bothering you that much.

Personally, I think the person coming down so hard on OP is the 19 year old guests mom - she recognized her son.

Nobody could fully decide if I was rich and cheap or too poor to vacation or if I was a pushover who wouldn't speak up or a Trunchbull who beat my guest and rationed his food or what. It was hilarious and I owned up every time I posted that it was me so I have no idea why anyone thinks I would have needed to sock puppet myself. I also still can't believe this thread won't die, vacation from hell ended last month!

It was so entertaining. I’m sorry your vacation was terrible but you will have stories for a lifetime. When I was a child my mother invited her childhood friend and husband to stay with us. They were the worst houseguests ever and we still laugh about it over 30 years later when we hear something that reminds us of something they did. You will forever remember Lenny.

I hope you have managed to salvage at least some good memories of that vacation, Op. Hopefully the experience was not completely destroyed for you and your kids by this gluttonous guest.

Is your son still speaking to this friend?

She said her son is very relaxed and easygoing. Her son wasn’t bothered by it as much as op was. I doubt he will be tagging along next year though, lol!

And who raised you to respond with "yap, yup or yep?"

I am op and that wasn't me. God who the hell are you people STILL responding to this month old thread? The vacation has BEEN over, there's nothing left to possibly discuss!

My heart breaks for both OP and the boy. Why can’t they just get along? I’m bawling thinking of how traumatized the young man is. And the OP must be in tears as welll. This is too much for me to take!

Sometimes life throws things at you that give you the opportunity to grow your character-to find empathy for another human's executive functioning disabilities or brain wiring or short coming in upbringing that were not their fault.
I'm terribly sorry you missed this opportunity to become a better, more compassionate person .
Perhaps the board could start a GoFundMe for a bottle of sunscreen as a consolation prize.

This wins.
Perfect response.

And, OP, your obvious disdain for fat peopld is weird. How about some compassion?

Op, great thread. Glad I got to read more of it after it was referred to in the DCUM best of 2018 thread

Don't sorry about the haters. They are probably fat, socially oblivious and 3rd tier like your lame vacation guest!

DCUM is the place to vent instead of embarrassing your kids friend and that's what you did

Does that even make a bit of sense?

Do you also let your kids order the most expensive item on the menu when they are guests at a restaurant? It's the principle people. Damn. I'm so team OP

And you're an idiot for digging up this zombie thread hoping to instigate more drama... you are the definition of socially oblivious.
