Well, there's always the medium sized state schools too!. Towson, Northwest Missouri State, etc. |
Strange that you assume it's a binary proposal. In my circles, the young adult kids including my own get all three. |
Heaven forbid? |
Not everyone lives in a state that has a W & M-type public option. |
My DC wrestled the same issue, and decided on Stern given interest in finance. Lots of high stats kids at Stern, btw... |
|
Oddly, I investigated some very random public schools across the country based on a specific major
Bridgewater State in MA Plymouth State in NH RI College SUNY-Fredonia Slippery Rock in PA Stockton in NJ UMBC UNC-G Winthrop in SC Kennesaw in GA USF in FL Southern MS Troy in AL Western KY Northern, Central, Western, Eastern MI, as well as Wayne State, Oakland, and Grand Valley IL State and Southern IL U-Edwardsville Southeast MO WI-Stevens Point Wichita State Central Washington Western Oregon That’s not even all of them, but there are so many other schools. Honestly, even in VA, the only schools available for what my child wanted were JMU, Radford and ODU. |
DP. A Reddit thread referencing another thread from 2015 and 2018 is hardly a reputable source.
|
Totally agree. My kids had no desire whatsoever to attend a gritty urban school with no campus, dirty streets, and crime. Different strokes indeed. |
+1 |
If you’ve decided it’s worth it to study film, NYU or USC are absolutely worth it. |
|
Tufts used to have a solid reputation, BC never did. Wake is a nice school but not worth $400 over 4 years.
|
In your opinion what happened to Tufts' reputation? How long ago was it considered to be good? Is it more like a Tulane or Syracuse now? |
| Blah campus and no school spirit at Tufts. Academically still stronger than BC which was a local kids school for much of its history. Both better than Syracuse. |
| Tufts is still a NESCAC school while BC is a third or fourth option for Catholic kids. Tufts has strong med and dental schools. |
I guess being a top 40'ish college out of 3,000 and average SAT of 1510 with an acceptance rate of 10% has really dinted its reputation. Makes sense. |
