First timer here. I’m wondering how rolling admissions work. Does the timing depend on what major a kid selected? Or is timing dependent on the quality of the applicant? I’m seeing admissions here from schools my DC applied to, but they haven’t heard anything yet.
But ON TOPIC - this thread is awesome!! I love hearing about all these acceptances. Keep them coming and congrats to these kids! |
This really depends on the school. |
Yeah, Baby! The AU one got delivered last night! |
+1 I also believe that to be the case. So don't get discouraged if ya'll haven't heard from a school already listed here. Believe! |
The Blue Hen Coop is gettin' full of feathers! Congrats! |
Georgian who went to college there and moved back decades later (via Boston and DC most of adult life). First of all, not cool to rain on someone's parade, but also it's such a cliche to make weather comments about Minnesota. As Prince said, the cold keeps the bad people out. Winter culture is much more vibrant than you can imagine, and I got out way more in Minneapolis than I did in NOVA or Boston during the cold months. Snowshoeing, cross country and downhill skiing, snow tubing and saunas. The Luminary Loppet on Lake of the Isles is magical. I never ice fished, but of course many do. We live in Europe right now and my DD debates where she wants to go in two years for college. She is top of her class, super high stats, but loves the vibe at the U. I hope PP's kid has a blast. I moved there the year of the infamous Halloween snowstorm - an amazing memory that bonds all of my dorm mates to this day. |
My kid was accepted at Louisville 3 days after applying. Just depends. |
Some people are really truly miserable in the cold. It’s not just a matter of perspective. |
Sure. And some people are truly miserable in the heat and much prefer a cold climate. You couldn't pay me to spend 4 yrs. in a place like Louisiana or Florida. |
I agree, and sometimes it is confusing. For example, I see kids posting about getting into SUNY Stony Brook but I have also heard they don’t release early? |

DS just received his first notification. Accepted to Pitt for engineering. He submitted the application on 10/18. It was really nice to have that first one be an acceptance.
Hope to hear from Minnesota soon (he loves the cold )

Super exciting!! One in hand certainly gives hope for the future. Keep us posted! |
I’m well aware but the weather comment was generally negative while we are trying to celebrate these kid’s achievements. Both Harvard and Minnesota canceled classes due to blizzards while I was a student at each (1992 ,1993 and 2002/3). I doubt PP would say “you can’t pay me X to spend winter in Cambridge”. I just wanted to add some positive vibes to the new Gopher parent. |

Congrats to all. I know about Minnesota and Texas A&M engineering programs - very solid and fantastic locations for internships and jobs post graduation.

| Colorado State! |
