| So sad. How old was she? |
| A healthy 66. I’m so sad for this loss. She was an incredible leader and mentor to so many of us. |
If she was healthy, what happened? |
I'm so happy to hear that everything in your life is so predictable and perfect that bad things never happen unexpectedly. You should continue to be just as you are as clearly it is working for you. As a parent of a Holton student who graduated as part of Ms. Jones' last class, I will always appreciate her steadiness, especially during the pandemic. She protected her staff, made every effort to keep the students motivated and feeling like they were still in school, and adjusted as new information and practices were able to be introduced. |
Huh? |
PP is apparently a little touchy about human curiosity that would be understandable to most people. |
|
Not the pp, but curiosity about what happened would be "That's terrible, I wonder what happened" and not lead with "If she was healthy" which is pretty snarky. Maybe it wasn't meant that way but I definitely read it that way too.
Our family is more recent and we didn't know Susanna as well as we were only in lower school while she was head but she was certainly invested in the girls and the school and we are very sorry to hear of her passing. |
“A healthy 66” was already an oddly phrased response to asking how old she was. Sure, “that’s terrible, I wonder what happened” would be the politer way to express curiosity, but saying someone died at “a healthy 66” kind of invites “gosh, what the heck happened??” responses. |
|
I took that to mean she didn’t have cancer or something progressive and that it was sudden
Or maybe we are all on edge, feeling our middle age, and realizing that all the retirement planning in the world doesn’t mean a crap if you can fall over dead at 66 out of the blue. |
|
We received an email last night. Daughter graduated in 2009..(Susanna's second group of graduates). Susanna was there from fall 2007 to spring 2023. Sad. She went to Phillips for HS (Boarding School), Princeton undergrad, Columbia for 2 Masters.
I googled + it looks like her 29 year old son, Andrew Beguelin teaches at Landon. He went to school there for awhile as well. |
| So…what happened? |
No information about cause of death has been publicly released. |
| Susanna died of a massive heart attack. She was a formidable woman who did so much for Holton. She would be devastated by the changes taking place and by so many good teachers and student leaving due to the current weak and abusive leadership. Holton was the best school in MD for decades until this year. It’s quickly losing its number one position due to this instability. It’s only going to get worse. |
New to Holton and I have not noticed anything wrong with the school, HoS, or the new teachers. |
|
Have you noticed anything on social media or the school’s website about the passing of the current HoS’s beloved predecessor?
Seems like a strange oversight |
