I saw that in AEM. I don’t know how I feel about him. Maybe we can get a real race if others run as an Independent.

OP. I only know him from AEM. He seems rather combative, but I don't know much about him otherwise. He's definitely more qualified than Chen and Zuraya so there's that.

How is he combative? I just searched his past posts, he seems passionate but I'm not getting a combative vibe.

Someone should go ask him to. He likes to say that he's the only one who is retired, so he has all the time to be a SB member. But can't fill out a form?

Where's ASHPA? Tannia and Janeth didn't weigh in on Zuraya? That speaks volumes.

I'm sure he was asked by AGIA, they gave it to all candidates. What else does he need?

Either Larry doesn't care enough about trans kids to turn in the survey, doesn't think Arlington would like his answers, or isn't organized enough to get the survey in. Either way, it's not a good look.

I like him. Smart and engaged, cares about kids. Will be voting for him in the general.

I think some are perturbed about how he and a group of other teachers led an effort to persuade teachers not to authorize AEA as their official union. Didn’t they try to firm another union?

I need to learn more about him and his platform before I’ll vote for him. As a teacher though, he is more qualified than 3-4 SB prospects though. 🙃

I saw a post from someone else on AEM (another teacher?) that was combative. Sounded like sour grapes to me. But that doesn't mean Paul is combative just because he opposed AEA. Would love to hear more about the AEA stuff. Anyone?

Gotta hand it to him for his slogan, his campaign signs have written themselves with "this fall, vote for Paul"

I'm curious as to why Paul and his friends formed ATU (Arlington Teachers' Union) too as a counterpoint to AEA.

I wonder why any teachers still pay AEA dues.

Candidate forum spoke with ASHPA last night. I haven’t seen if they’re ending up endorsing anyone. FWIW we have two Spanish-speaking candidates.

Who is the second one? Kathleen?

Also, it's a bit late to start endorsing now. Many people have already cast their vote.

Yes! Kathleen rocked the ASHPA forum by speaking in Spanish!

From her Facebook page: "Tonight, I did a presentation with the other candidates for ASPHA and did 95% of my answers in Spanish. Although I have a degree in Spanish, it's been 20 years since I've spoken it regularly. But, I pushed my anxiety aside and stopped worrying about perfectionism and instead focused on connecting. It wasn't perfect, I stumbled on some words and phrasing, but I did it."

I think it's kind of telling that ASHPA has not already endorsed Zuraya. Their silence tells me everything I need to know.
