All these sorority threads make me so sad.
I’m an old Gen X progressive feminist. I feel like women are just on one of those elastic strings and we keep snapping back. |

I wrote the PP and I think it's wrong to look at it as some anti-feminist agenda at play. I'm just a realist. Education is only a path to equality in a world where there is ALSO, high quality, universal childcare. In the real world, those with the best lives hav the most freedom, aka. $$ |
Sorry you didn't get a bid. |
+100000. I thought we were beyond this in the 90s. |
And, not that pp, but I intentionally went to a college which didn't have Greek orgs in the 90s. Thought it was passe even then. |
No you didn’t. |
I’m fascinated by how bored you must be. Despite being here for years, you have not matured at all. You continue to post this stupid, childish response on every Greek thread, year after year. |
As the mother of a girl in a sorority, I could not be prouder of her and her friends. They are intelligent, organized, and volunteer for their communities. This group has encouraged independent thought and leadership, and she is more of a leader and feminist than when she left home. Don't speak about what you do not know. |
I don’t believe the summer camp reference applies today - and if it does please provide examples , unless you are talking summer camp in Middle School. None of the popular/social/ athletic/rich kids I know went to camp after 7th grade. Not that it matters- but people talk about these camps all the time and I just don’t think that’s a thing any more. |
You’re proud of being a part of a literally, deliberately exclusive organization just because it changed some of the parameters of exclusion? OK. |
Is it this tough for the boys too?? |
This 100% |
I have not read everything but I have been active in my sorority and have written recs over the years. Everyone take a breath because it is not that important. Some schools do not look anymore but some do. I always request a resume whenever writing as it helps me write your letter and nicely personalize the letter. I know how to write in a way that highlights. That is how it is used. Some people just hate sororities and that is a shame because there are many nice houses and it’s a lot of fun.

It's a Texas sorority thing. Texas Hill Country camps. My grandmother was a Mystic girl ... it's been a thing since the early 20th century. Mystic, Waldemar, etc. |
