Help me buy bed sheets

Anonymous
I bought a set of 300-Thread-Count 100% Cotton, and am disappointed - they're thin and not all that soft. FWIW, I'd love something similar to the Westin bedding: thick, but soft cotton. Any suggestions for sheets I can buy online? TIA.

Egyptian cotton percale, 400 tc or so. Sateens are too thin IMO! And the higher tc ones are mostly a scam (counting double and triple ply).

High thread count sheets ware quickly and eventually tear. But I imagine they got softer with age. I grew up with thicker cotton sheets that became SO soft, but that was literally over a period of like 30 yrs, and eventually they tore too. We got some sheets from IKEA that faded quickly but are super super soft after just a year or maybe less. I don't care for sateen. They are too hot and I don't like the texture.

Recently I read about this company that sells online. I am very curious about them so if you buy from them, please come and share your experience here.

The quality of the cotton is more important than the thread count. You want pima or Egyptian cotton, as they are a longer "staple". Shorter staple cottons are scratchier. Sort of like the difference between cheap wool and merino or cashmere. Percale is supposed to last longer than sateen.

My mom gave us some hotel sheets from JCP that are super thick and pretty soft. They are probably the closest to my grandmother's ancient sheets. And if I were to iron them regularly, they would probably get even softer. Not sure if they still have the same line now though.

If you like flannel sheets, the Lands End 6 oz flannels are excellent.

If you know you love the bedding at the Westin you can always order it. Phone won't let me copy and paste the link for some reason but if you Google "Westin home collection" the site should pop up.
