We all know that Fair Facts was started by and run by people in Great Falls. But Aren't there also TWO Great Falls Associations because they got in a fight? I would love someone to explain all the Great Falls drama sometime! How can one tiny part of the county have so much drama?? My part of town doesn't have a citizens association, no drama other than the Oakton moms! |
There is LLIV at Saratoga but the kids all go to the center at Lorton Station because then they can do MS AAP at Lake Braddock. Not sure what they do after MS, maybe LB for HS for AP classes if it’s not closed to transfers, maybe Hayfield or South County for AP otherwise. Maybe their parents just move. I have no idea why Saratoga is the one Lewis school at Lorton Station/Lake Braddock for AAP when all the other Lewis schools and Hayfield’s schools are at Springfield Estates. |
The Oak Hill moms. |
Glad you asked, the group that put out a letter saying it should be a magnet school was a Democratic Party-aligned group not based in Great Falls. I assume you’ll now spend significant amount of time attacking the democratically-aligned organization with the same vigor with which you attack great falls, right? Right? |
Herrity’s GOP piece claiming the western HS is not needed was ghost written by a Great Falls resident. https://fairfaxgop.org/hundreds-of-millions-for-a-new-high-school-we-dont-need/ |
🤣 Herrity represents great falls? Don’t ever change, conspiracy theorist. Don’t ever change. |
Piece was published by the Fairfax Republicans, not the Springfield Republicans, and written by a Republican from Great Falls. |
I've no idea who wrote the letter, but it sounds a lot like the message going out from Great Falls residents posting on Nextdoor. Some freely suggested that we could send the kids to Herndon--no matter that it would not hold all the students and would be a very long commute for the school that needs it most. For a community who lobbies to stay put, they were very anxious to move other kids here, there, and yon. There was one FairFacts leader who posted that there were lots of extra Fairfax government buildings that could be used. She did not list one that would have helped the area that needs a school. I think they really do not understand just how crowded the schools in this area are. |
If you think the people who are opposing this school are all Republicans, you are very much mistaken. And, why haven't we seen organized protests from other areas of Fairfax County? |
Nope, maybe Crossfield/Oakton moms, but they don't represent this entire area. They don't even represent all of Crossfield. They represent a small group of 6th-11th grade parents zoned to Crossfield + Crossfield parents who send their kids to Navy AAP. |
Fun fact, five of the 19 Illuminati counsel members reside in Great Falls! 🤡 |
Meddle, meddle, Great Falls, meddle, Langley, meddle. |
IDK who wrote that. Herrity added in Herndon which distorts the numbers and included modulars [2005 installs at Chantilly and Centreville] for the other schools. Using the CIP28-29 Langley 2285+ SY24-25 Spring Hill Island 201-2485. Divide by program capacity 106%, design 105%. There are concurrent and uncoordinated boundary processes at play: 1. comprehensive which has the BRAC 2, Poe as an AAP center. FCPS scoped it to include CIP projected membership which makes Poe 109% capacity utilization. That excludes the Thru/Reid/BRAC add in of 72 Poe base school students. Vote is 12/18. 3. Western HS- that should have been on scenario 4. AP comprehensive HS that includes some extra STEM POS. No magnet. 4. AAP centers at all MS - this should have been done for scenario 4 especially considering the huge volume of AAP transfers into Rocky Run and Carson. Recently R Anderson asked about the gr 6-8 at other MS. Reid stated not possible with AAP served in house at base schools. BRAC members, added non pyramid reps, Fairfax County Fed of citizens associations I guess you have to check where each lives plus any FCPS advisory committee roles. Who benefits from what? Failed blockade attempt on AAP in all MS [only NO vote was Meren whose South Lakes has a huge benefit from Herndon]: https://e0ff9d40-649b-4488-a1e0-677cf444a6de.filesusr.com/ugd/8bf868_5ebff0a2e8ef4d2eb2604f707fce5c34.pdf The report you can read mentioned in the position paper dealt with cluster grouping, honors classes, critical mass. Completely ignored the massive numbers transferring. Failed blockade attempt on Western as a comprehensive HS: https://e0ff9d40-649b-4488-a1e0-677cf444a6de.filesusr.com/ugd/8bf868_d128de909f284981a476bef5d4429396.pdf |
Why does their political affiliation matter? I assume most people in Nova are left of center but I also don't know what that has to do with the new school. |
Most people in NOVA are far left, not left of center. Very few are left of center moderates, and even fewer are Rs. |
