My kid got accepted into Blair math magnet and waitlisted at gds. Home school is bcc. Not sure what to do..... |
Depends on the kid. At B-CC would they do IB?
If they are really in to math and want to focus on that, do Blair. They'll get more of a challenge than GDS. If they are all around really strong and you want a strong social emotional curriculum, do GDS. If they are all around strong and can handle a large school where they have to sort it out on their own, do B-CC. Honestly, I don't know why you would pay for GDS, unless you child needs the support of small classes & extreme personal attention, when you have Blair & B-CC as options. Hard to get better public options than those two schools … in the whole country, really. |
Oh God. Let him go to BCC. He can choose to do IB or AP or a mix...
Let him have a life |

If you're waitlisted at GDS then right now it's not an option, so I wouldn't factor that into your decision making. That brings you to Blair magnet or BCC, in which case it depends on your child's interest. If your child is excited about a math magnet, I would go that route (though, as PP noted, it is large, so I'd also want to feel confident that your child could handle that). Otherwise, BCC is a good school, has IB and AP and can also provide a challenge, perhaps a more overall well-rounded one. Also, if it's your home school I imagine transportation will be easier. Where does your child want to go? |
