Is there a cheaper, knockoff version of Proactiv? It works pretty well for me, and it doesn't dry my skin, which is RARE, in my experience. I tried the Neutrogena (drugstore) package that claims to be comparable to/better than Proactiv, and it dried my face to a crisp. Anything else I can try? I'm looking to trim to budget and it's annoying to spend that much on what's basically benzoyl peroxide... Any suggestions? Thanks! |
If you have good health insurance, you might just want to get a prescription from your doctor. My daughter's dermatologist told us the prescription form is just as good and was much cheaper for us. |
I've never used proactiv.
I use a benzoyl peroxide face wash (4%) my derm prescribed. Costs $4 at walmart. Seems to work okay. My acne is pretty bad though...I'm also on differin (similar to retin-a but bit gentler) and doxycycline. Its WAY better than it used to be but I still break out near my period and occasionally other times. My skin is really sensitive too though. |
I read on another blog like this that there is a knock off at Walmart |
The Gaithersburg Costco today was selling the 3 part Proactive system plus the mask for $32!! I spent $40+ at the mall last week for just the toner and repair lotion.
I asked at check-out and they weren't sure if they were going to continue selling it. They said it depended on if Proactive was willing to continue giving them the discount. Stock Up! |
The Clinique "Acne Busted" is actually very good and is supposed to be like Proactive. I don't know how it compares in cost, though. |
