Shocking.

I don't understand this. They are the only ones who have closed. Why not just a two hour delay?

It never even got below freezing here. I am seriously pissed.

Montgomery County is 507 square miles, ranging in elevation from 10 feet (the Potomac at Little Falls) to over 880 feet (near the Frederick County line).

It would be a mistake to assume that the weather in the whole county is like the weather at your house.

The roads are a sheet of ice in our part of the county. No way kids here can get to school safely.

Sidewalks are icy in Bethesda. And reports are that it may not melt until 11 in some parts of the county meaning a 2 hour delay wouldn't have helped.

Rockville is bad. Definitely below freezing here. Sidewalks are horrible.

Ice closures make FAR more sense than snow closures.

I'm fine with this decision. 2-hours won't help the HS kids since it is still supposed to be freezing rain at 9 AM.

Meanwhile, my child is upset because it's a friend's birthday.

Bethesda PP, I'm having trouble believing your sheet of ice stuff here in Chevy Chase - our driveway is all puddles and everything is dripping wet, NOT frozen. Cars are speeding down our street. maybe Poolesville is dangerous, but nothing close in could be described as remotely icy.

Rockville: ice on trees. Roads are wet only. Our driveway, deck and sidewalks are not icy. It is only raining.

On word, Atlanta.

Out here in Potomac/Rockville the roads are just wet. Some ice on the trees, but I just walked outside and my stoop and driveway are not even the slightest bit icy. The bad weather must be in the far northern parts of the county because cars have been speeding up my street for the past few hours as people head off to work. Now my kids get a "snow day" for a rainy day. I think they are predicting that it will get up to almost 50 degrees today.

Hmm in my Rockville (West End)..everything is coated with ice...every blade of grass. While the street is generally wet, the sidewalks are totally icey. DH commutes (well not sure if 10 minutes makes a commute) within Rockville and said most roads are ok if driven on but if not the salt has not worked yet and they are slick.,,and he is a northerner. This was around 6 am.
