Private & Independent Schools

Please help me settle a debate with DH. If your DC is in a private school and you visited the White House this year, could you let me know: 1) which school; 2) whether it was a current family with a White House connection that made it possible.
Thanks. |
| Beauvoir, and yes, a parent who is a current White House employee set it up. |
| Yes, from a public school, and yes, a member of congress set it up. |
| I thought that any group (10 or more) can arrange a White House tour? |
|
"Public tours of the White House are available for groups of 10 or more people. Requests must be submitted through one's Member of Congress and are accepted up to six months in advance. These self-guided tours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (excluding federal holidays), and are scheduled on a first come, first served basis approximately one month in advance of the requested date. We encourage you to submit your request as early as possible since a limited number of tours are available. All White House tours are free of charge. For the most current tour information, please call the 24-hour line at 202-456-7041."

| My co-worker sends her kids to a private school in Virginia. I forget the name. They went on a WH tour recently. |
| The difference between a regular WH group tour (which can be arranged by non-connected people) and those with WH connections is that the later probably gets something special attached (like seeing the POTUS board Marine One). |
| Probably? Maybe 21:03 can provide some information. |
| Beauvoir. Arranged by a teacher with connections and kids got to see P. Bush. He was going somewhere in his helicopter so they all lined up to see him. He spent lots of time waving at them before he boarded and took off. |
| What was the bet, OP? Who won? |
Either St. Agnes/St. Stephens or Potomac, I bet . . . |

| NPS kids sang there at Christmas. Someone had connections. |
