ok, lay it on me!
beef or turkey chili only. No pork products. Would really love to put stuff in the crock pot and come home at night to some awesome chili. thanks! |
| Brown ground turkey with a chopped onion. You can do that the night before even. Dump into crock pot along with 1 can black beans, 1 can pinto beans, 1 can white beans, 1 cup (approx) frozen corn, 1-2 cans chopped or stewed tomatoes, and a packet of McCormick's chili seasoning (I use mild and adults can add extra heat in their bowls with red pepper flakes). Cook on low all day or high for a few hours. |
| Are you open to chicken recipes? If yes, put a couple of frozen chicken breasts in the crock pot. Cook until done. Add tomatoes, corn, beans and chili seasonings. Cook a couple more hours. Shred chicken in pot. Serve. |
I need glasses - I read crack pot chilled recipes....

| You need to brown the beef before putting it in the crockpot (preferably with the onions and peppers). Otherwise you'll come home to an oily mess. After that, you can just dump everything (liquids, spices, tomatoes, beans, etc.) in the crockpot, but this won't take all day (just a few hours). |

I use the Wendy's chili recipe, minus the water and just cook it in the crockpot.
http://www.topsecretrecipes.com/wendys-chili-recipe.html I love fancy recipes, but this is so comforting and easy that its become a favorite. |
Note, like a PP said, you do have to brown the ground beef in a skillet first (I also brown the onions a bit too and bloom the spices in the same skillet). |
| Kid Friendly crockpot Turkey Chili on the Gina's Skinny Taste site. It's really good and my kids do gobble it up (ha ha ). in fact, I have it in the crockpot right now! |

I just make chili last night - no recipe really though. I see what veggies are starting to go (last night it was mushrooms and sweet potatoes)
1 can of kidney beans (soaked and rinsed) 1 can black beans (soaked and rinsed) 2 cups of mushrooms (costco ones) 4 sweet potatoes 1 can plum tomatoes 1 can tomato paste 1 1/2 cups of water lots of spices - cumin, chili, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, thyme and cook. turned out great. |
