Who determines GBRS score? AART or class teacher or both?

Who determines GBRS score? AART or class teacher or both?

Some people says it's a very important factor for AAP selection. I also read here from a FCPS teacher that a kid who was given GBRS score 6 , was selected into AAP based on NNAT/CoGat scores. This is very hard to believe though.

It is supposed to be a collective team of at least the classroom teacher, AART & someone from the administration, however as many sources as possible can provide contributions. Unless you have a child meeting with an ESOL teacher or other type of specific specialist, however, in large part it will be from the classroom teacher and AART (if the AART has seen your child).

Read the parent information packet - http://www.fcps.edu/is/aap/packet/ParentInformationPacketFCPS.pdf and the rest of the AAP website.

You can get most of your questions answered there. Anything you get from DCUM is just anecdotes, hearsay, wishful thinking or outright lies, along with a healthy dose of spite and vitriol.

If AART is changed middle of the year, Will it affect the chance of AAP selection if the kid scored 99% on Cogat?

The AART at my school is new to the school this January...the previous AART retired in December. I'm assuming that this means that the current AART will just rely more on the 2nd grade teacher's recommendation for the GBRS.
