All of Fairfax county has plenty of talent. What's questionable is the coaching.

Coaches in youth soccer today are the equivalent of rec coaches 30 years ago.. only now they make six figures.

I never want to hear that they are making decisions based on "the best interest of the players", they don't care about them.

I'm sorry your son didn't receive an offer, but that isn't surprising when you consider there were probably about 100 kids with ECNL-N and MLSNext experience at tryouts. This was the hardest age group since it consisted of both 2007 and 2006 boys.

I don't blame a coach for asking his players for opinions on players he should watch at a tryout. There were a lot of kids to scout. All of these kids have either played together or against one another for years. They know each other and know who has technical and tactical skills. Asking some players, who are now 17/18 and have been playing soccer for over 10 years, for their opinions on players seems like a good decision to me. These are young men who we demand perform a sport at one of the highest levels. They want to win and they want the best players available to help them win. So, a coach asking some of his better players who is good and who he should recruit, I think is making a decision.

And just to put the current B2007 teams into perspective for you, VAUnion just barely beat BRAVE 2 years ago. This was the very first game for the 2007 BRAVE team and this BRAVE team lost every game in conference that year and had a goal differential of more than -100.

This year the B2007 BRAVE team beat VAUnion. So don't act like the team VAUnion team was a top of the table club.

I know for a fact that there are about 5 Union boys that received offers, a boy from NVA, a boy from a MLSNext team, plus some boys I'm not sure where they played last year.

Will this age group consist of more BRAVE players? Yes, it will consist of a little over half, but it's not the whole current team that received offers.

Will next years FVU 2007/06B team be better? Yes, it will. And I think it will be significantly better than either the current BRAVE or VAUnion teams. Next year's team will be deep and every player will be pushing each other for playing time. The talent difference between the starters and bench players will be razor thin.

All of this is what you want in the upper age groups for academy teams.

07B coach cant eval for crap. This is why his teams are always middle of pack. He is indeed bias and gets stuck in certain players who were good years ago. Is his son still playing and robbing kids of spot and playing time?

Questionable for relying on a players oppinion. The system is corrupted by mediocre coaches. Most of the coaches are piss poor and only chasing teams that are already core winners. There's no development once they get to ECNL level. Only squeeze out.

Union 2010 loses to Brave and NVA this weekend. Best in the DMV.

How many Brave made the Union 2010 team for next year?

How many for 2011 made fvu? I can’t believe BRAVE let themselves be manipulated like this.

If coach is middle of the pack he is pretty good. Better than the bottom.

They have a very sophisticated playing style. It takes time to master.

Union is in 7th (7-5-3)
Brave is in 8th (7-6-5)
NVA is in 9th (6-7-5)

This weekend NVA beat Union 3-0.

There’s absolutely nothing sophisticated about it.
