We are looking for a credit card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees, anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks! |
| Capital one. Not sure if they offer a chip and pin version but that seems to be essential for overseas travel now! |

There are a bunch, though many charge an annual fee.
I have a citi hilton hhonors reserve card - 95 annual fee but no foreign transaction fee and lots of hotel points. |
| Capital One Venture has no annual fee and no forex fees. We live overseas so I did the research 3 years ago. At the time no one else offered a card with no forex fees. |
there are chase cards with no forex fee, but they have annual fees (like sapphire preferred and british airways) |
| We are Foreign Service so we deal with this all the time. We used to use USAA, but they started charging foreign exchange fees a few years ago. The only one I found that does not charge them and has no annual fee was Capital One - which is what we have. We only use it overseas as it doesn't give us the best points or return compared to other cards (and we pay off the balance every month). There may be a few new ones, but Capital One has worked pretty well for us overseas. I should also say we've had great customer service with them, esp. notifying and follow ups on additional overseas trips while posted overseas. They seem to keep a good check and balance on "funny" charges and notifying us if they see anything. This is especially helpful in more 3rd world countries where fraud can be rampant. |
| I recently looked into the same thing with Bank of America. They have what I think they call a Travel Rewards Card or something like that with no foreign transaction fees. We haven't applied for one yet, so I can't confirm all the details, but it seemed to me that the card also has no annual fee. |

Capital One Venture. No annual fees.Good exchange rates too. They are very helpful if you run into problems abroad.
The other cards charge 3% foreign transaction fees. I have a Visa card for backup, though I have not had to use it. Many places in the countries I travel to won't take Amex. |
| I loved my capital one venture for my last overseas trip. It doesn't have a chip though so I had to use cash in Denmark - so check to see if you need a chip. |
