No because they aren’t Spanish. Brother married a Spanish gal so he wins!

Brother also looks sort of “Spanish” so that could be why. Sticking with her new theme.

This was is funny!
“And I’ve always been a Zara fan,’’ said Baldwin, adding a Spanish lilt to her last two words.
“It’s, you know, it is a Spanish brand, and so I’ve known about it since, for very, very, very long time before I was in this country. And I’ve always been obsessed with it.”

LOL. I keep checking the Family Relationships forum to see if anyone has posted about their crazy American SIL stealing their heritage and dominating family vacations but alas, no bueno. We are here if you need us Maria! Hahahaha.

The Pure Food and Wine fraudster set them up. That’s an angle no media has picked up yet. She ended up in Rikers.

I thought her Spanish was fine.

Seems there’s an army of bots claiming she speaks Spanish well. No, she doesn’t. Sounds like a kid who took 4 years of Spanish in high school with a decent accent. But it’s just surface level. She’s what Alec would call a ‘pseud’ — everything is surface level trying to impress and trick people.

I am a native speaker and she has a good accent. I have only heard her say short simple sentences but with those I bought that she was spanish. She's probably not fluent to speak anything more complicated but she's good with the accent.

Most americans who learn spanish in USA have a latin accent, her accent is castellano though. They are quite different.

She uses repetitive phrases and filler words with a good Spanish accent and nonverbal movements, and clearly understands Spanish, but if you watch this whole 3 minute video, she has to think before she speaks and makes several errors.

If you listen around 2:25 she mispronounces the Spanish word for movie and has to then pause and say it correctly [says pelucula, catches herself then says pelicula].

I hadn't seen this interview. I still think her accent is really good even if she mispronounced some word but the answers are too simple, that's what gives her away. However if they told me she's spanish and I see this vid I'd probably just think she's a very simple person.

About the cucumber thing I have to say I don't think is so weird to forget how to say a word in your native language, that's happened to me sometimes.

Yes, even if you don't speak another language (FWIW, I'm multi-lingual), you never say 'how do you say in [native language]....". Phrasing it the way she did, she wants us to believe that English is not her native language.

***Here is how they will spin it and commercialize it.***

Hilaria courageously blazed the trail to eradicate racism by embracing an ethnic name and adopting an accent!

A Venezuelan writer penned a piece for People which prompted Alec to clap back over Twitter. In short, the author said she was hurt by Hilaria’s fake persona since she had to give up her beautiful ethnic name and overcome her immigrant accent. Well, guess what, Miss Venezuela? Hilaria single-handedly changed American hearts and minds! No need to Americanize your name or ditch your accent! You’re welcome :0)

Hilaria is a hero!

I see a series of children’s books and ethnopositive merchandise on the horizon! Those baldwinitos will be featured in a cartoon soon enough.

Gracias, Hilaria!

She actually must have been pretty nice back in High School and College because if she was a bitch, people would have tried to get her busted before now.

I won't go so far as some who assert this may have been a Tom and Katie arranged situation, but Alec knew precisely who he was marrying and there was a lot of choreography behind this 'spicy' wife thing.

Mum and dad conveniently moved to Spain just before the wedding, Harvard doctor mum and Georgetown lawyer dad don't get named in the wedding announcement, mum and dad don't even attend the wedding (her brother walked her down the aisle?), and mum and dad living in Spain is the one piece of evidence used to fact check her ties to the country.

I saw that the brother walked her down the aisle but didn’t know her parents didn’t attend the wedding. Weird.

There are photos of them attending the reception and I think the Post mentioned what brides mom wore (designer - same as Hilario wedding dress designer) but no photos of them at the wedding that I could see.

Okay I just saw pics of her parents at the wedding.

So her parents were at the wedding but her brother walked her down the aisle? That's really interesting. I could see it if he had donated bone marrow to keep her alive or quit school to raise her or some other major sacrifice or significant family rift. But the parents were there, soooo........?

She also posted a screenshot on her IG stories a couple days ago of supportive texts that her brother sent her (in Spanish, interestingly) but radio silence from her parents (publicly at least) which makes me think that maybe her parents DON’T support her and her choices.

Also, she did this on tv and her recipe had about four ingredients.

I don't know what she's trying to prove here. Zara has been in the U.S. since she was 5 years old. So she knew about it before she supposedly moved here from Spain when she was 19?

Page six has so many articles about this right now. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!! I don’t usually read page six but is it normal to keep churning them out or did they get provoked by Alec and his lawyers or something??

I know someone who knew her at NYU - where she went by Hillary or Hil and had no discernible accent. Says she was very nice.

I suspect she was invisible during HS. That’s why she was able to do this without anyone from her past calling her out. Nobody remembered her.

The doubling down part of this is driving me insane.

In her instagram video she talks about not always navigating well in her awkward years... "being more this or being more that". YOU ARE A WHITE GIRL FROM BOSTON. She is appropriating experiences that are legitimately difficult for other people, for attention and profit. She is talking about where she was born and how "people want to label you as something else". No, people want to point out that you say you were born in a foreign country for cache and you were not. She's also saying people "coming out of the woodwork" probably did know her and maybe she acted a certain way to be cool.... so it was some big effort for her to hide how Spanish she was, as an American teenager, that she had to PRETEND to have an American accent and be fluent in English. What? She says her background might not fit into our "cookie-cutter"... like no. Your lying is what doesn't fit. She's acting like a victim of discrimination because WE don't like diversity.

The people who don't get the interest in this or why this matters... I don't get you.

Their wedding rings are inscribed in Spanish.

She conned him.
