For full-pay families...

how much more would you be willing to pay if tuition were raised? Tuition prices are raised every year, if you look at a typical x% increase every year, what will it be when your child hits high school? What is the tuition price point at which you'd say, no thanks, we're out of here? Are you likely to hit that point during your children's school years?

We're full pay and there are rumors that our school (not local) is going to do a significant tuition hike. Wondering what it will be and what the fallout will be....how many families we will lose....if there will be a net gain in tuition dollars....what's going to happen to FA families...etc, etc.

Well, for what it's worth, we're near the breaking point - sophomore in private, another child in first year College at State, and a third in public high. A rate hike on the private high school might put us over the edge.

We're in elementary school and are near the breaking point with two. Close to $30K ($60K for both) is a struggle. If it were closer to $40K ($80K for both) it would be impossible.

I think we're a boiled frog. We can swing tuition with sacrifice. As long as our child's happy in her school and we're happy with the school, I think we accept the tuition hikes. It won't be until we're dead that we realize we've been boiled.

Inertia is a powerful force.
