Basketball team trophies- what do we do for the coach? (2nd grade)

Anonymous
Hi- DS is on a basketball team (house) in 2nd grade. I volunteered to buy the team trophies - what do we get the coach? I know in the past we've pitched in and given them some money and a card-
1. do we get anything else? (a trophy? plaque? i don't recall seeing this on other DC's teams but thought I'd ask
2. How much should we give $ as well?

We always did a team photo with a signed frame.

Photo books are awesome coaches' gifts. We have 2 boys and my husband coaches a lot of their sports and has for years, and he really loves the photo books that capture things throughout the season. He has a whole collection and our boys love to look through them too. You can usually find a coupon code for Shutterfly, etc.

Also meant to add that a framed team photo, while nice, becomes sort of a pain after you have a dozen of them. We really have nowhere to hang/display that many team photos in our house.

Coach's wife here...my DH has gotten gift cards for Starbucks or Sports Authority tucked into a card signed by all the kids. I can't recall exact amout on gift cards, but I'd describe it as modest. My husband was very appreciative.

Non-parent Coach here. Anything works but the best gifts were the ones I could share with my family (who tolerated me coaching). Gif card to Outback or a similar quality restaurant for a family dinner were the most memorable.

Did they win the league or something? Is that why you're buying a trophy? Presumably the league would provide those, yes?

As for the coach, as a coach myself I mean it when I say there's nothing expected or necessary. That said, when I've received gifts, I've most appreciated those that were intended to force me to us it for ME.

Last year the team mom had each kid write a paragraph about what football means to them then took them and had them bound giving a copy to the head coach and his assistants

When I coached, the team gave me a ball with their signatures. That was 10 years ago and I still value it.
