If anyone could recommend your pediatrician in Bethesda, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you! |
Pediatric Care Center - Dr. Namrata Wheeler is amazing. The other doctors in the practice, especially Dr. Sussman, are also very good. They are thorough and compassionate and I never have any trouble getting an appointment. The after-hours answering service is also great. |
We have been happy with capitol medical group in chevy chase. |
pediatric care center; dr peebles is sooo nice, you can tell he loves the littlest ones, nurses are nice too. Administrative staf is usually nice too, some have their 'of' moments though...
Check which insurance they do take, not a whole lot I fear. Good luck, I know it's hard finding someone you like, I was very lucky someone recommended dr peebles! |
Love love love Dr. Giorgio Kulp & Metropolitan Pediatrics located next door to White Flint Mall |
Bethesda pediatrics. Dr. Gatto is amazing with babies. |
We loved Dr. Peebles also, but they dropped our insurance, I think they're only down to taking one type now. We switched to Dr. Idriss and love him and his daughter who will be taking over his practice when he retires. |
Joan Barkin, MD (301) 984-8112 is the most wonderful, caring, brilliant physician with amazing connections and resources if you ever need an outside referral or input (e.g., NIH, Children's for any special needs). Her answering machine after hours never says, "Only call if this is really important" -- it's always the same way she is in person: "If you need anything, call me on my cell phone."
Her own kids - grown now - are exceptional and went MIT and Stanford, but you'd never even know that or about her own amazing credentials and training because she is so down to earth and so focused on you. You will never feel like a number. Always extremely cared about. I have two kids: one is almost five and the other is two and a half. I don't know what I would have done without Dr. B when I was pregnant as she guided me through some complications, or postpartum - which hit me hard. The advice she has on caring for my kids (general parenting issues) is always awesome. If you like PEP (Parenting Encouragement Program) you will also adore Dr. B. Old school. Much attention given to you. Regular check ups and no problems or complications and special needs, I've sent many friends to her and everyone is thankful. She is a gem and a very rare find, anywhere in the country. |
I like Bethesda Pediatrics too (in the Cabin John mall). But keep in mind that Dr. Gatto is in high demand, and only there part-time -- so he's sometimes tough to get appointments with. Dr. Mayol and Dr. Walters there are also very good. |
Okay, I don't know anything about Dr. Barkin, but this seems a little fishy. This is almost an exact quote from the Vitals site. Do you work for her? Trying to drum up business? http://www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Joan_Barkin.html |

Just a heads up in case anyone else is looking for a pedi. |
Surprised no mention yet of my practice, Pediatric Care of Rockville on Executive. Huge practice. Very happy there with all of the Docs... |
Dr. Raymond Coleman and Jeff Greenburg (same practice) are awesome!!! The office interior looks totally dated so don't let that turn you off. The care is great. They are in Rockville though just beyond the beltway on Rockville Pike. About 10 minutes from downtown. |
We LOVE Pediatric Care Center. We are lucky they take our insurance - Cigna. We see Dr. Weiner who is wonderful but we have been impressed with all of the doctors in the practice. |
I also like Bethesda Pediatrics in Cabin John mall. Drs. Korengold and Mayol are our favorites. The nurses are also good at calling back if you leave a message with questions. I would caution that they tend to be conservative about prescribing medication. If that fits with your philosophy, they're great. But if it doesn't, you may prefer a different practive.
In contrast to the PP at 23:57, we avoid Dr. Gatto. It's true he does have a great bedside manner with babies and little kids, but he can be very dismissive of parent's concerns. And even the recommendations of other doctors! We saw him once after our daughter had been in the emergency room and he was terribly dismissive of what the hospital's doctor's had recommended. We trusted Dr. Gatto, and had a bad outcome... |
