| My BIL is a really great at home chef and cooks all the meals for his family of four. He's into gourmet, fresh cooking and organic food and they have a very large and awesome garden that they mainly eat from. I'd like to get him a subscription to a food magazine as a gift. Would you recommend Cooks Illustrated, Bon appetite or food and wine? |
| Food & Wine, for sure. |
| Cook's Illustrated. It's basically cooking magazine for nerds. Bon Appetit was pretty good until a while back when they got a new editor and it basically turned into Food GQ. |
| CI, hands down. F&W is kind of over the top and BA just sucks. |
| Another vote for Cook's Illustrated. Great magazine. Only downside is its kind of expensive per issue. |
Better photos. CI is great but lots of illustrations. They're changing a little now, but either would be appreciated. |

Lucky Peach
Fresh, seriously foody and something he probably doesn't get. |
| Plus 1 for lucky pwach |
| It sounds like this guy actually likes to cook. Food & Wine is food/travel porn. CI actually improves your cooking. |
| I've had Cooks Illustrated, and I preferred Fine Cooking. They're similar in that they teach techniques and both do lots of recipe testing, but I think FC is less repetitive and has better writing and more accessible recipes (despite what the title suggest). As a fellow foodie, I would pref Fine Cooking. |

Saveur or Fine Cooking.
Also, do you know if he already has subscriptions to any food magazines? |
| Saveur |
| Thanks everyone! Now I can't make up my mind. Lucky peach is definitely up his alley in many ways so I think I may go with that! |
Lucky Peach is awesome, just keep in mind that it's quarterly and not monthly. |
| Saveur would be my pick. |
