I want to buy something! Do you have anything unusual, and/or pretty? What do you have? (and where did you get it, and what light/water do you give it?)
I have a hip-high kumquat that seems very happy next to a west-facing window. I'm from California so I pretend the kumquats are miniature oranges…I get more bang for my buck with a young kumquat than a young real orange tree, where I'd have to wait too long for oranges. I've also got a very pretty emerald green "crispy wave fern" around that area. Here's what it looks like and the link to buy it if you like http://www.logees.com/Crispy-Wave-Fern-pp/productinfo/F6002%2D4/ I have an orchid I bought from Whole Foods--it came with a tiny plastic cup and said "warm water, only this much, once a week" and darn it even though I feel like I'm under watering it, it's been great for months now. So I guess I was overwatering my past orchids. Have a huge fiddle-leaf ficus from Home Depot, too. What about you? |
| Ooooo...I just started doing this! I am so excited! I need to ask you OP, where did you put the plantings? Do you have to protect the floors? If so, how? How big are your groupings? We are doing edible plants, mostly. |
| Love that crispy wave fern OP. I find other ferns shed too much. Most of windows face north (end unit row house). the east facing windows face an alley and the west facing windows really only get late afternoon sun. How much sun would a kumquat or mini orange tree need (I love the way these smell, just not confident it would get enough sun in my house)> |
