When to accept the admission offer for rolling decision?

When you receive an offer from rolling decisions, when is the deadline to accept? If you have accepted but change your mind later, is that allowed?

| May 1. If you change your mind before then you lose your deposit (usually about $200). But don't believe me: check the terms of the offer. |

| If it's a big school,sometimes an early deposit guarantees housing. I know it seems crazy, but many schools accept more kids than they can house. Call the admissions office to verify. |
