Astoundingly high report card from someone there now in an honors program. I mean rave reviews.

Large school, great environment. Much like UVA.

if she is indicative of the girls there then definitely go.

Huge school. It really depends on what program you are going into. But generally UGA is held in high regard. Not as high as GA Tech but high.

I don't think the school itself is prestigious but I have heard, from someone who graduated last spring, that the honors program is amazing. She had TONS of opportunities WRT internships, research, etc.

Honors Program might be worth a look but otherwise it is a solid public school for GA and other southerners, one of the better Southern Public Schools but kind of a mystery why someone from this area would want to go there.

Good quality of life, fun college town, passionate alumni network, and now they have merit scholarships for OOS students (they didn't used to). Great big-school experience. DD was accepted with a $9K renewable merit scholarship but went to our state's flagship university - she would have loved Georgia though.

I think a lot of kids want to get away from this area and people whose primary frame of reference is this area. Can you really blame them?

Can't blame them for that but not sure I would send them to a large public university in Georgia filled with Georgia residents who are paying a lot lot less.
