Sign of Republicans Lawmakers Turning on Trump

A GOP congressman and Air Force veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan said Friday President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw troops from Syria puts the US in a "far weaker" position in the region.

"We ceded, effectively, Syria over to Russia and Turkey. They are the major players there now, and Iran. So when they get together, are they going to basically carve out Syria for themselves? That's a question, and that's a concern I have. So ceasefire in and of itself, good, but a ceasefire that says now, basically, the Kurds have to evacuate, they have to get out, de facto gives Turkey what they wanted through military objectives, and we still have abandoned our allies," Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois said in an interview on CNN's "Newsroom" with Jim Sciutto. "We had to bomb our own military base for God's sakes. It reminds me of Somalia and South Vietnam. It's disheartening, and I think the impact isn't even being felt yet."

"I think over the next decade especially, but even the next few years, the impact to when we need allies now and in the future, is going to be felt," Kinzinger continued. "Leaving is one thing, but leaving in the way we did, in a hurry ... unbelievable."

Are we winning yet?

When is that?

DP. The deadlines are mostly in the spring, but McConnell has said he expects articles of impeachment from the House by Thanksgiving, and the Senate will conduct the trial 6 days a week if necessary and should finish by Christmas.

Kasich just told CNN he favors impeachment.

The R's should just bite the bullet with their base and turn on Trump en masse. That would give them time to put up a Kasich or a Romney---either of whom would win handily against Warren or Sanders and probably Biden.

But if they do it, they need to go all-in because they need to make sure they silence him forever through jail time for all the money laundering and obstruction, because they can't have him throwing $hi) from the sidelines.

I think they know he is absolutely crazy and dangerous but like an abused spouse---just can't bring themselves to cut loose.

It won't happen. Russia hacked the RNC at the same time it hacked the DNC. Whatever information that got from that hack is so bad, that the entire RNC is holding the line.

I have a guess as to what it is.

Because he has a good reputation in his home state of Ohio and his statement may slightly move public opinion there. I think Rob Portman is potentially "getable" to vote to convict in the Senate, so Ohio public opinion is important. Kasich might be able to provide some political cover for Portman. They may also have a personal relationship in which Kasich could influence his fellow Ohioan.

per the thread title.. Rs are turning on Trump, though yes, Kasich was a never trumper, and his vote doesn't count. BUT, it shows that there is no solidarity around Trump, and that more and more R lawmakers are willing to look at the evidence for impeachment and not just discount it as a witch hunt (see previous post by a R lawmaker and Nixon).

Three years ago, I would say I was wearing a tin-foil hat, but I am going to guess that the Deibold and other electronic voting machines have been controlled for years, and evidence of that is in the RNC hack. There are too many instances of exit polling that conflicted with the results. Something that simply didn't happen before 2000.

Funny that never Trumpers like Kasich are now "turning" toward impeachment. If the phone call was published a few weeks ago and it was clear as day an impeachable offense, why are they just now "open" to impeachment? Also, Sean Hannity, Tucker, Pence, Graham, and even Trump himself are asking for "impeachment." Why not call for it? I know it takes time. Three plus years is not enough time?

UMM he is in the house not the Senate. Why does this even matter?

If enough Republicans in the House vote to impeach, it will give Republican Senators cover to convict.
