Agree that DMV lacrosse is down this year but Landon is clearly not and in a league of their own this spring. IL lacrosse has them ranked at #8 in the country for a reason. |
Really a surprise. I guess you have not watch PVI or GC play. I have watched both and GC is much better team. Well coached and play as a team. |
GC is the better coached team. They don’t have the depth to compete against Bullis SJC Gonzaga yet. This is year 2 for coach Smith. At this rate, they should be in the race for WCAC title yearly. |
Absolutely. There is more to it though. You need AD support. And everyone knows that all Wooten cares about is boys basketball and the rest of the DJO athletic dept. goes to support it. Outside of softball, the rest of DJO sports are mediocre to awful and Arlington kids with any athletic ability avoid it like the plague if they can. |
How Wooten still has a job is beyond me |
WCAC playoffs will be fun to watch next month. Gonzaga and SJC are the likely favorites but you can’t rule out either GC or DM. DM is a different team since when the former HC resigned a few weeks ago. |
Why did dm coach resign? |
He did not resign |
What’s the deal with Mitchell? Did he get fired as the head coach and then rehired as offense coordinator? |
PVI not in the mix is crazy after last season |
No. He stepped back from head coaching because of his surgeries and recovery time. He was able to return as OC |
The HC, Miller, resigned a few weeks ago |
Resigned or fired, but why? |
He was forced out as head coach but was allowed to stay as a goalie coach. He said no, so they said they both decided to part ways. However, he is now blaming the players like he blamed them for everything. He should have never been hired since he had no coaching experience. Main thing, he was toxic and wanted to be head coach in name only. He was supposed to be the OC but knew nothing about being an OC. He belittled players constantly. He never communicated with parents or players. For example, cancelling a Saturday practice and not telling his players and his coaches. He didn’t plan for the spring break trip and game. I could go on and on. Basically parents and players had enough of him. It was bad with a lot of players thinking about transferring from the program. Since his departure the players are inspired and playing harder. You can see it since the LaSalle game. Mitchell was welcomed back with open arms and this is from some parents who had bad experiences with him. |
So Mitchell is now the head coach even though he doesn't have the official title. This gets around the long standing rule at DeMatha that the head coach of a varsity program needs to have a full-time position at the school. |
