Any updates or changes resulting from change in middle school head? Are parents happy with the change? Students happy?

Must be too early in the school year to provide a fair assessment.

Lower school head (Kari Cafeo) is now assistant head of school. She is awesome and as far as I know most parents love her. Current burgundy parent.

What about Middle School?

She is the Assistant Head of School, which means her job covers LS and MS. There are less than 300 students in the entire school.

What happened to the other MS head?

I'm new so I don't have any idea what happened to the predecessor... I just know that historically the school had a head of school and assistant head of school. They have decided to go back to that model instead if having separate LS and MS heads.

I wonder how not having a middle school head will affect high school admissions process? Not the results, just the process. The former heads spent a lot of time helping the kids determine which schools were a good fit, guiding them and their parents through the process, and visiting the high schools to advocate for particular students. All of that is very time consuming work ... will the assistant head of school now do this work? And if so, will attention to lower school issues be sufficient? Perhaps the middle school teachers are filling the high school admissions role as part of their advisory role ...

Nope. There was a LS head and a MS head, and no overall assistant head.

Middle school: so far so good. Excellent teachers and seems quite well organized (and nurturing). Hope it stays good!

Yes. Last year. Further in the past, at some other point in the school 'a 68 years of operation, there was a head and an assistant head. They are going back to that. I'm not sure what overall impact this will have because it seems like they're making 3 jobs into 2. BUT I wanted to point out that there's a historical precedent for this and that it's a model that worked for the school in the past, not some new, untried thing.

I'd love to hear more about experiences with the middle school at Burgundy.
