Once again: the people "speaking out" were demanding answers to the funding question, which is an absolutely legitimate subject for ALL taxpayers. But, you know that. |
But, this school has been promised for years. The purchase was a bargain and it can provide a nearby high school for kids from crowded schools. They are not "data" they are students. This magnet will be confusing and not solve the problem. The area still has new construction. Oakton has new construction--and is expecting massive new construction. Westfield has new construction. Chantilly has new construction Tysons has new construction. If they make a magnet of this school, they will have a huge mess within three years. |
Like 3/4 of the FairFACTS Matters facebook posts are the same guy posting exaggerated numbers and crazy reasons the school couldn't possibly open, and that the county should "sell it back." He's deranged, and their mods do nothing about it. |
Ok, so you’re just straight up misleading people here. The fairfacts matters Facebook group is open to all posters, it’s an OPEN forum where people typically have a variety of views, so you arguing that fairfacts has taken a position because of some guy’s post is just super misleading because the group has taken no position on the school. It would be like saying DCUM hates great falls because jeff allows the deranged anti-great falls lady to post frequently here. Maybe you are just misinformed, but people have told you that the group has taken no stance on western before and you continue to push false statements. |
You proved our point that it is not what Fairfacts is about. That is literally one guy, not the group.. He barely gets responses to his posts that you are describing, especially when you consider how many people belong to that group. And he often gets called out and corrected by others I could post a daily rant on that page that the football parking it too crowded because the school allowed the football team to be too large due to too many kids at the school, but it doesn't mean that the Fairfacts page is now about foorball parking. |
asking for transparency is talking against the school? i don’t think so. any logical person no matter where the school was purchased would ask questions if FCPS didn’t even announce the purchase for over 2 months after it closed. and now a month after that they still have no idea on programming, boundaries etc. No one is saying the school isn’t needed in that area. But it seemed very impulsive and they didn’t even do the right permitting to get it open for 2026-2027. |
do you see all of great falls supporting his rants? no. most people ignore him. great falls is not the same as 1-2 vocal posters. they don’t speak for the community |
You have no idea what you’re talking about and you should probably not spread misinformation. |
what exactly is the misinformation? the not having the permit came from a school board member. they still haven’t decided on programming or boundaries. none of it is false info. |
She said permits were slow. She did not say they wouldn't have a permit. Remember, this is one of three School Board members who abstained from voting for the purchase. The other two were both running for Braddock supervisor and this vote would not have had a positive impact on Braddock district. |
Not to mention that guy spends most of his time arguing with a pro-KAA poster from Oakton who is at the other extreme (100% Pollyann-ish about anything have to do with the western HS). |
It would be awesome for FCPS to rezone half of Great Falls to Herndon. GF is majority democrat now and I'm sure they wouldn't object to professed democratic values being put into practice. |
I mean, forestville elementary school boundaries literally back into Herndon High School. There is absolutely no justification for them to go to Langley 45 minutes away, or for the taxpayers to pay for that bus ride. |
those are very small parts of forestvilles boundaries. these people who are so obsessed with schools that don’t involve them need help. forestville isn’t being moved during this review. drop it. where do your kids go to school? i’d love to give some suggestions on where your kids should go |
I could care less what happens with Forestville. However, the Nextdoor poster who was so "disheartened" when KAA was purchased lives within two miles of Herndon. So, the part about them not being interested in other people's boundaries is just not true. They have posted quite a bit about KAA on Nextdoor. And, none of it is happy for the neighborhoods that will benefit. Any guess why? |
