totswap in Gaitherburg this weekend...looking for reviews.

I submitted clothes for the first time to toswap Gaithersburg consignment sale that's happening this weekend. Does anyone have experience with consigning with them? I also have never been to the actual sale. How is the atmosphere of the sale? Is it like a free-for all with people grabbing all over trying to get to the clothes or is it pretty organized? Any reviews would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Well I didn't consign my stuff but I did purchase at the last Gaithersburg totswap in July. I went on a Saturday close to when it opened. It was busy but the items for sale were pretty well organized. I could see it being more messy as the day goes on and more people are picking up items. I just was in the market for maternity clothes but might return this weekend for baby items.

I've always gone on the last days, and it's pretty organized. I've never seen a free-for-all crazy mess, but maybe the first day is like that?

I consign with them regularly. It's very smooth/organized and frankly you've already done the hard part - unless you are going back on sunday to pick up unsold items. I never do... all gets donated.
I have been to the gburg and hoco sales, vastly prefer g'burg. The stuff is all really organized, at least early in the day. the clothes are all on the racks by size, so I generally just figure out where I need to be and methodically work my way up and down.
Don't bring a stroller, for the love of god. Just dont.
They won't let you bring in your own big bag, they'll give you a big blue ikea bag.
Also, don't bring kids of that age who will want to play with everything and shriek when you won't let them. I did it once and was miserable.
They always have a bunch of melissa and doug stuff, New, at discounted prices (probably co-op prices). We stock up for holiday gifts, etc.

Go as early as you can. As a consignor you get to go tonight, right? GO

Agee with the above pp. don't even bring your kids if you can avoid it. Stuff is pretty well organized.

OP Here, I'm going tonight. I'm really hoping my stuff sells. I cosigned about 130 clothing items--they were almost all new, so I didn't do the donation thing. I'm going to pick up on Sunday. If they don't sell going to donate to my church.

Went today with a vip pass, it was a zoo and I had to wait in line for 45 mins. Clothing quality is very bleh but toys were good. Lots of infant toys.

I have had times where I have found TONS of clothes, but more recently, even with an early VIP pass, very little of great quality. Infant clothes and toys are always the best. Board books were GREAT at the early sale, but I have never found much selection by Saturday morning.

I was there this morning and saw 2 slides, 3 train tables, and a lot of music tables.

I thought some of the stuff was CRAZY over-priced, but if you know what you're looking for (i.e. I needed new shoes for my DD and wanted a thick fleece hoodie for DS) then you can find good deals if you're looking specifically. It's very well-organized. When I got there, the line was crazy long, but I just waited and wandered a bit before going back when the line was shorter. I didn't bring my kids (they were in school) and I'm SO glad. There were a lot of kids there, so you won't stick out if you do bring them, and some of them were happy, but a lot of tears and harried parents, so if you do have a choice, leave them at home.

I consign and volunteer at totswap. This show is packed. Normally the smaller sizes are more abundant. This time there is a lot in the bigger sizes as well. I shopped yesterday. The large item area was also packed. I noticed some higher pricing this time. I did get some nice items for prices I was willing to pay. I think if you go looking for specific items you do better.

This was my first time as a Cosignor with Tot Swap, I was unaware of the theft that went on. I returned to retrieve my items on the last day of the sale and found several items were missing. I sent numerous emails to the owner Robyn and she did not reply. I was very disappointed due to the fact my items were worth high value. Had I known that my items would disappear I would have never taken the risk. I do not suggest you take anything if value to consign at Tiot Swap until Toot Swap can put a better Ant Theft Contril in place. I believe it is a inside job between staff and volunteers.

I've had things disappear as well, but never had Robyn not reply. Did you connect with her on Facebook? Usually posting on the FB will garner some kind of response, since it is a public forum.
