Really? I did not know this!

She was hit by a policeman on a motorcycle while crossing the street. She settled with the police for $$$.

>Her parents retire to Spain just before the wedding
>Omission of credentialed WASP parents in NY Times wedding announcement
>Her *brother* walked her down the aisle at wedding
>NDAs required by her family who attended wedding
>Alec goes all in in every interview about his Spanish wife
>CAA represents the wife and promotes her as Spanish

All suggests, to me, this was a choreographed arrangement.

>Her parents [now] living in Spain remains the only proof of Spain heritage

Yes. The doubling down reeks of arrogance and privilege. Like, how dare you question me?

Or maybe he really loves his wife and knows she's fragile and quite dim.

I can kinda of understand a lie/fabrication/exaggeration getting out of hand, and then you kind feel like you have to keep it up. But what I don't understand is, after you've been publicly called out, letting your significant other go out there and repeat what you know to be false (i.e., that you spent several years growing up in Spain). Alec is all over the place, duking it out with random people on Instagram. It kind of reminds me when Bill Clinton let Hillary Clinton go out and defend him in the Monica Lewinsky debacle. To me, that's worse than the original sin.

Seems like it was some sort of arrangement to help him improve his image and extend his A-list career another 10-15 years. I personally think he's one of the most talented entertainers of this era. His storytelling and charm is on another level. He's so gifted.

I actually don't see it that way at all. She kept leaning into the scheme 10 YEARS into the marriage. Once you married and had a baby, why keep it up? Why was she so obsessed with appearing on TV and becoming an influencer? Had she just been a low-key rich yoga mom nobody would know her or care about this. She was pretty obsessed with 'building a brand' around this fake facade.

This is why I love you, DCUM

Yeah, I hear you. She did lean into it. If it got out of hand, it was her own doing.

If he really loved her, wouldn’t he do the right thing for her and their kids? Gently take her phone away and say ok, let’s enjoy the holidays and our kids and forget about this.

I think Alec's responses on instagram are hilarious and part of his charm. I bet the dainty yoga wife is turned on by his spirited defense of her. Put her in a Super Bowl commercial pretending not to know how to say doritos or red bull or some such. Showbiz, baby.

Love DataLounge! It’s even funnier than DCUM.

They just aren’t listening. They are egomaniacs and know best.

I'm guessing CAA has PR people on staff. But if the Baldwins are lying to CAA as well, they can't really execute a strategy. That's probably why they took H's page down. They need to think about their own credibility at this point.

I think her page is still up, no?

Get Kris Jenner on the phone and put together a reality show with the family actually moving to Spain. $10 million a season is the floor. Showbiz, baby.

It’s possible that there simply is not enough money for the lifestyle they are accustomed to for half a dozen people. If she was collecting 50-60k per Instagram post, that’s enough for school for 1 kid for the year, or maybe, winter coats for the entire group.

It's absolutely privilege. Let's say you are white and very poor and grew up around people who were black and very poor. And black was the culture that you "identify" with. And maybe your skin is dark, and you can kind of get away with someone believing that you're black or part black. nope, in our culture and our society, you are still not allowed to call yourself black or say that that's your identity at all... Even if it actually, really is. For some reason, the Baldwins feel that they are allowed to do this.
it reminds me of Winona Ryder saying she was stealing things from a store to prepare for a role. So, it's okay because she's rich and white and has a professional purpose. But if you're a minority and not wealthy, your reasons are no good you deserve punishment.
It's just really, super gross.
The video up thread when she's talking on a podcast, and the interviewer obviously thinks that she's talking about moving to the states at 19, and says oh that's why you didn't know pop culture.... it's no mistake that HB quickly said: oh I don't know about pop culture anyway, and didn't dwell on it. She could have said, like a normal non-grifting person, no I had spent a ton of time in the states I just didn't know that much about pop culture. Even that would have been a lie because she didn't just spend time in the States she grew up in Massachusetts FFS.
The fact that her CAA profile said she was born un Mallorca and there's no way she was unaware or didn't approve of that, and everyone can see what's going on here, is what makes us such a fascinating trainwreck.
