Yum BLT!

I eat healthy and love nutritious food (for the past few years). Even when I try to indulge in junk food that I used to like, I end up feeling that it wasn't really that good. I just finished a BLT and fries for lunch and they were damn tasty and totally worth it! Must be those summer tomatoes!

I was just thinking the other day how I had the best BLT of my life at Grape and Bean in Old Town. I want one now!

BLT--so simple, so amazing.

Must get bacon. I have a counter covered with tomatoes.

Add avocado and then we're talking.

Our grocery store deli makes bacon only on Wednesdays, and they make the most amazing BLTs. I crave them.

Use fried green tomatoes in a BLT- best innovation ever!

I just had a fried green tomato BLT with avocado at J Pauls yesterday. It was yummy.

Serious question. What do you think is so unhealthy about a blt? Bacon is processed meat with nitrates, ok, I'll give you that. But it's a simple sandwich with lettuce and tomato! Unless you're on a hardcore restricted calorie diet, what the problem?

People have such food guilt, I think it ends up being counter-productive. It's a lot less calories than a bowl of pasta or even a bagel and cream cheese. And it's less processed more whole food than substituting a meal with a cliff bar and a diet coke.

Good for you. You had an enjoyable meal. Unless your blt was made on the length of an entire baguette, rock on with your bad self!

Bacon is not healthy by any stretch for the reasons you stated. And neither are fries. Fine sometimes foods, as Sesame Street would say, but not all the time. Hence why they were an indulgence.

Buy better bacon.
