caribbean island?

I am trying to plan a vacation for March and was thinking about the caribbean. Which island would you recommend for our first vacation with a baby (she'll be 9 months)? I'm looking for a place that is a direct flight from DC with quiet beaches and some culture. And preferably not overrun with tourists or springbreakers

If expense is no object, The Cotton House on Mustique. It. Is. AWESOME.

Depending on your definition of culture, finding an empty island in early spring that has any will be difficult, as most of those are pretty overrun.

That's funny because I was just online today looking up places in the Caribbean for a trip in March and our baby will be 9 months old at that time as well! Unfortunately, most of the hotels have kids programs that are geared towards ages 2 or 3 and up. I'd love to hear suggestions from people about places to go as well where babies would be welcome and there is maybe some kind of program so that my husband and I could have a dinner out 1 or 2 of the nights...

We're also trying to plan a carribean vacation this spring. I'm a little nervous about college kids during march though and was thinking of waiting until april. I did a search on family friendly vacation (just googled) and a bunch of recommendations came up. I can't remember them all but turks and caicos. Nassau's atlantis is supposed to be great for kids but I'm not sure I'm up for that.

Try "Beaches" Superclubs-all inclusive family oriented. I believe they have 2 locations-double check but I think Turks/Caicos and Jamaica. They have a great reputation (and website), but never been there, so don't have first hand experience but will probably go next year w/twins. Superclubs owns Sandals for couples which is awesome-been about 5 times, so if they run "Beaches" the same way it should be a deligtful experience.

If you are going to a 5 star resort (not sure what amount you are wiling to pay) you will have a good chance of having babysitting services with a reputable person (these kinds of resorts cater to travelors who want/need good childcare)--I know that the Four Seasons at Nevus has this but I don't believe it's a direct flight in April but you could check-think you will have to change in Florida or Charlotte. I would call your dream hotel and talk to the concierge about their childcare programs.

Good luck and have a great trip!
