I bought a container of them, having no clue what to do with them.
What are your favorite things to do with fresh mission figs? |
| We have fig trees in our backyard in Florida. I make fig preserves out of them. |
|
I've made a couple of batches of fig-balsamic jam (great for a cheese plate, but also on pretty much anything). This week, I also made a fig-goat cheese-pecan-honey tart from jocooks.com. It was ambitious, but MAN it tasted good!
Figs are awesome wrapped with prosciutto, stuffed with cheese, or just seared on an arugula salad. I'm kind if obsessed right now.

| They are great in a salad with some goat cheese! You also can serve them just like that. They are delicious... |
| You can serve them in a salad with goat cheese, dried cranberries, almonds and cherry tomatoes. I also cut them up and add them to my plain Greek yogurt. My kids eat them plain. |
| Stuff with goat cheese and wrap in bacon. Broil so the bacon kind of carmalizes. The trick is to avoid getting the goat cheese too hot. |
| But come on - if you're gonna die, make it death by bacon wrapped goat cheese napalm. |
| Crostini topped with goat cheese and a slice of fresh fig. |
| 1 container. I eat them out of the box, delish, never makes it into anything. |
|
OP here -- thanks for all the ideas. I thought this was where someone suggested the fig-pecan-goat-cheese tart, drizzled with honey, but I must have read it elsewhere. I have the dough for my tart in the refrigerator and will put the rest together tomorrow.
|
| Put them on a charcuterie plate. Dried meats, cheeses, fruit. Wine. Crackers or bread. Mmmm. |
Oh, that was me! You're welcome! (Turns out the leftover tart is also good cold for breakfast the next morning.) |
|
If you only have a box, I would eat all of them. We have a fig tree, so I end up with a ton.
There's this fig cake - http://allrecipes.com/recipe/fresh-fig-cake/detail.aspx And you can make the topping they describe to go over waffles, pancakes, or french toast. |
