What comes to mind when you think of..
Tennis players Golfers Soccer players Baseball players |
Not as cool as foil fencers! (Holds up flame shield from tennis players, golfers, soccer players, and baseball players who disagree) |
|
Tennis players - people of contradictions. Very disciplined most of the time, total partiers getting completely wasted other times.
Golfers - I can never think of it as a "sport." Hobby, sure - but not a sport. Soccer players - people with anger issues Baseball players - generally vanilla All-American types. |
|
Tennis players -- all the ones i know who are serious about tennis are very nice, but not particularly outgoing or a blast to be around. Golfers -- average white guy. Soccer players -- perhaps not American. Fun to be around/outgoing. Baseball players -- HOT. a bit of an ego. |

1. Monied whiners

Tennis - anti team
Golfers - rich or wannabe rich Soccer players - stamina - you see the field they have to run in Baseball players - blue collar |

Tennis is a dying sport fueled by lack of PR in the pro ranks, not since the days of McEnroe and Agassi has it become relevant or at least on American soil so I don't know what the current perception is but I would still think it's for the privileged. Athleticism and lots and lots of practice to be a good player and mentally tough since it's a solo act.
Golfers- rich and skilled country clubbers. Soccer- popular sport (outside of US) and posses the complete package. They need speed, finesse, power and endurance. Probably a foreigner... Baseball- America's favorite pastime, recognizes the game's history and tradition. Can even be a little out of shape to play (see John Kruk) and play well. Must have a good arm and exceptional hand/eye coordination. Roids have tarnished the game in the MLB and the perception is lot of athletes playing baseball are all jacked up in one form or another. |
Male players only... Tennis players - wimpy, effete, bright, conservative, introspective, thin, small, boring, smarmy Golfers - wealthy upbringing, struggles with weight, drinker, lacks social skills, arrogant, doesn't excel at any other "sport" Soccer players - hot, fit, great legs, extroverted, coordinated, fun-loving, endless energy, friendly, life of the party, everyone's crush Baseball player - country boy (or wannabe redneck), all American-type, promiscuous, heartbreaker, tall, average looking with an outsized ego, bad boy who calls his mom after every game. Salesman's demeanor. Worshiped by grown men. Dumb, but charming. |
Agree with all of these. Baseball players are total rednecks! |
