i'm looking for some something to read that is light, leaning towards trashy but has a family element so i can relate.

for example, 50 shades series, they have a family at the end. something like that.

Romantica/Erotica The Brown Family series from Lauren Dane; Sinners On Tour series Olivia Cunning.

Fair warning about the romantica/erotica. The sex way hotter and there is more kink involved. BDSM, threesomes, voyeurism.

Everything I've recommended contain families or really close friends and families. The characters carry through the series.

The first thing that popped into my head was the "Flowers in the Attic" series I read as an adolescent!

Norw Roberts or Amanda Quick might suit you. Not a whole lot of sex (definitely erotic scenes though), but the characters always end up married/engaged/hea at the end
