ridiculous shill!

That was mentioned in several of the comments last night. Even to the point of saying don’t buy anything from there now, or niw’s the time to do Christmas shopping with them, not school items. The only comments Jen responded to were the I love Zulily type ones when she’d agree they’re the best!! All other comments were ignored.

It just hit me how this probably works. Jen said she’d only recently heard of zuilly. They’ve been around many years. So I’m guessing a site figures out who their target buying demographic is doing purchase history analysis then they have their marketing team reach out to influencers with 500,000+ plus followers in their target group and offer them a sponsorship. Jen’s management fields these offers and bring her the juiciest offers. Since Jen has decided she’s brilliant with money now that she actually handles her own finances she can’t resist any money making opportunity that crosses her table. Hence the wide range of things she’s hawking. She’s a money hungry hustler. Now she’ll have more to invest in the stock market cause she’s told us she’s also a great market investor as well. It’s rare to witness Jen’s level of self adulation. What kind of self-hatred and fear of failure is fueling this behavior?

The irony of Jen is that the one person who’s so keen to offer and monetize giving advice is also the one person so desperately in need of wisdom and grounded advice.

What on Earth qualifies her as a expert on anything?
Especially marriage and relationships.

Maybe the constant travel and boasting and celebration of bratty kids is a way to ignore what is lacking. People spouting advice when the dust hadn't even settled on the last blown up relationship.

It's all an illusion.

An illusion that sells, unfortunately, but that's the reality.

Jen has a LOT of followers, which translates to $$$. Dollars earned per post increase significantly as your number of followers increase. She's absolutely been successful at amassing a lot of followers and monetizing them. What I wonder about though, is how that trajectory changes over time if/when she becomes "less relevant." She used to have a well-defined niche---relatable Christian mom who could wittily write about life in a way that others before her in the Christian world hadn't. But now she's walked away from that platform and seems to be grasping at straws in a lot of areas that aren't her expertise (eg.,fashion). I think it would behoove her to step back and think hard who she really is and has to offer. The problem with being an influencer is the expectation that you keep posting/selling constantly---it doesn't give you room to sit back and reflect after a major life disruption (divorce and change in spiritual beliefs).

Someday it will be interesting to see studies about the pyschological effects of being an influencer. I wonder about the sense of hollowness, the sense that it's all a charade? The constant pressure to produce new posts and the scrutiny of those posts? And the pressure to seem like you have it all together enough to offer advice while still being relatable? Making your followers believe that they are your great buddies and friends! I imagine the long-term toll is exhausting and damaging. And it saddens me that being an influencer ranks at the top among "careers" teens aspire to these days.

It makes sense for teens to want to monetize something they are already doing. It looks like easy money, though the psychological toll is incalculable.

I wonder if folks like Jen are especially adept at the image crafting because she’s been doing this her whole life within conservative Christianity as a pastors kid? Give them what they want and make it look really good. DO NOT betray the perfect family narrative. It’s like she’s had decades of training for her influencer job. Obviously that’s not shading conservative Christian upbringings, but the pressure pastor’s kids feel to not make dad look bad. In fact that might explain her excessive hyperbole about how flawless her father is as a person. His former occupation depended on him having a good public reputation. People won’t fill the tithe bucket of a questionable pastor, they’ll head down the street to the next church.

Have an explosive public divorce, that’s ok just reframe it as this incredible gift that has led to a far better life than before. Everything that happens she simply rewrites to sound brilliant.

I was stunned at the way Jen spoke to Remy

Welp, now Jen is all about making up for something, because Remy got a nice new car for her bday.

I don't care how much you make, no kid deserves a new car for their 16th birthday.

Jen is always bragging on things they do for Remy (remember the over the top NYC vacation when Sydney showed up? ) And Jen constantly talks about how Remy is the most beautiful person in the room. And Remy is gorgeous, but Jen has to have another feather in her cap.

And was Sydney at American U to major in .....photography? It sounded like she made excellent grades so I'm sure she got some scholarships but no way would I pay $55k a year for my kid to study photography.

Ack the new Glennon podcast was weird as anything. Martha Beck has gone cuckoo. I loved her book, Expecting Adam, but hoo boy she is kind of nutty now.

Anyone know what Sydney is doing now? Did she go back to college after her hiatus waiting tables?

🙋🏻‍♀️ Studied photography at an expensive liberal arts school (where I did have some scholarships) and it’s paid off nicely! I’d send my kid for that or any other art in a heartbeat.

Ok I listened to Glennon’s throuple podcast and I realized she’s planning on working her way into a throuple of her own someday. I had the thought awhile ago that her sexuality is opportunistic. She is what works best for her at that time. Eventually they’ll bring a new partner on board who will be able to keep up with Abby’s higher sex drive and help manage all the mundane parts of life for Glennon as Abby is being run ragged doing all the grown up tasks that aren’t creative and instantly satisfying.

Then I wondered is Jen also of this opportunistic orientation? She married Brandon when that was the it thing to do as a young Baptist at Christian college. Now she’s with a more highly viable social justice warrior who happens to be black, so more street cred for her. But let’s face it there is no chemistry there. They are laughing buddies, not hot lovers. Who knows what she’ll choose next.

I follow Sydney on Instagram. Her handle is @texaskeeper. She hasn't
posted since Nov 2020. Her posts were all artsy, boho, nature, etc.

Didn't someone say that Brandon and Sydney hooked up, and that's the real reason for the divorce?

I think this is the most trolliest troll post that a troll ever made. Ignore. Don’t feed it.

Jen almost never talks about her sisters. At least not individually. I wonder what their relationship is like.
